Storing hops

Hello All,

I have started to use hops to liven-up standard brew kits, and am starting to collect some leftovers ..

What's the best way to store hops after you've open the vacuum-sealed packet? What containers? Out of the light? Temperature? In the fridge?

I mostly have whole hops if that makes a difference.

I tried to search for old threads on this but couldn't find anything relevant.

Freeze them

Airtight will help seal in aroma too, so if you've got anything to vac pac or even airtight Tupperware, use it!

or you could just freeze them...

I used to use kilner jars and pop then in the freezer. Now I have a vacuum packer. This saves space my limited freezer space.

I fold over the original foil pouch, into a ziplock bag and into the freezer.

I've got a few unopened packets which I probably won't get round to using for a couple of months.

Is there any benefit to keeping unopened vacuum packs in the freezer ?
