The Myth of the Boiling Point

I found this very interesting. Experiment 5 is very similar to the puffing I saw when I boiled 2L of water in a 2L conical flask.

And I now understand why I had 100ml of water suddenly explode out of its measuring jug and all over the inside of my microwave! Must have been because I boiled it once, which knocked most of the air out of it, then when I boiled it again it superheated...

Can happen when reheating coffee/tea.

Stick a spoon in and boiling drink all over your face.
