...that ikea whisks are made of 2 pieces.

A handle, which was in my hand.

And the whisk bit which was at the bottom of my wort.

I expressed my surprise at discovering this using some phrases I believe are discouraged from use on this fine forum.

Luckily I was able to fish it out with some bbq tongs. However between this and the fact the brew is a slightly short wherry with 1kg BKE added (seemed like a good idea at the time) if it doesn't get stuck or infected it'll be a miracle!
 
Wherry kits seem a popular choice to 'mess' with. I have one can left after cutting my 'grain' teeth doing partial mashes with it. Sure I will put it to good use....
Just a thought, if you have used both cans and a kilo of BKE that is gonna make the 5.5g of kit yeast work very hard !
 
Yeah the og came out 1.06, I put it down to tesco sale madness.

I did realise before hand this was a bit daft as wherry's tend to stick anyway so added extra yeast and nutrient. Hopefully they'll get going quickly and out compete whatever was living in my wisk.
