Hello

So I’m planning on making a stout next weekend and I want to add vanilla to it. I’m just wondering what you lot do when using vanilla pods or extract.

The last time I used extract and I didn’t get very much vanilla coming through.

If you were using or have used vanilla what was your process?

Thanks

In last years Oatmeal stout , i used three vanilla beans ,which i split in half ,and then half again, then soaked them in a bit of rum for a week ,and then added it all to the FV for about ten days ,and this gave a mild but noticeable flavour.

Can I ask how much rum you added ? Also did you get the taste of rum also?

Could use vodka if you don't want rum flavours. I made a cacao nib tincture for my white stout using voddy...
