Second of the Home Bargains beers - a robust Porter from DC Brau. Lovely. Nice roasted flavour and an immediate chocolate aftertaste. Great choices from Mrs B.

For research purposes only I've cracked a bottled of Tribute #10...it probably had 3 weeks at 19c then a week at cold crash.
It's not yet properly carbonated but there's head retention and lacing and it's clear....but it tastes just like the pub version!

Just back from another 20k walk of krakow with lots of beers Wodka and street food. 11pm here. Wife in bed. Austwich in the morning at 8 so only fitting to have a big porter to get me to sleep. Lots of liquorice in this and the best porter I’ve had so far.

I'm drinking my Mystery Hop Ale. Bought a new house about a year ago and the lady who was in it before planted some hops in the garden. I have no idea what kind they are. First I made a Green Hop with the hops I harvested, which tasted good - bittered with packaged hops, and mystery hops for the finish. The rest of the hops I dried in the oven and have made the beer I'm drinking now. The hops taste most like Northern Brewer to me, but a bit lemony. Could be the dead bugs, but if I don't think about that, it tastes fine.
Used Pilsner malt and Nottingham yeast. 4.9% ABV.

100g nibs roasted 10 mins then soaked in Auchentoshen scotch for a week, I the berr at end of primary for 2 weeks. 2 vanilla pods in their own scotch for a week then added to beer for 2 weeks. Dumped whole lot in scotch and all, figured not much scotch really for 5 gallons. Could have done with 3 vanilla or left vanilla longer as choc was spot on but vanilla doesn't come across. Just subtly bolsters choc. Not disappointed however. Tastes lovely

Nancy Naylor Landlady Pale Ale Veloria Schooner base malt with Munich light, nice malty mouth feel and bitter finish.
Foreign Extra Stout, for this one, added 2 whole Star Anises 10 minutes before the end of the boil. Doesn't need any more than two.

It's meant to be a dwarf variety of FG but my home grown PD is much more orangey than any FG I've bought.
How's the battle wound?

Yesterday my enclosed bar got it’s first real test with 8 of us out there until late in cold weather. I’m pleased to say it did it’s job and we all stayed warm so I’m very happy
