One caller said the land of the free today became a little less free.

Millions of women in the US will lose the constitutional right to abortion, after the Supreme Court overturned a 50-year-old ruling that legalised it.
The court struck down the landmark Roe v Wade decision, weeks after an unprecedented leaked document suggested it favoured doing so.
The judgement will transform abortion rights in America, with individual states now able to ban the procedure.
Half of US states are expected to introduce new restrictions or bans.
Thirteen have already passed so-called trigger laws to automatically outlaw abortion following the Supreme Court's ruling. A number of others are likely to pass new restrictions quickly.
In total, abortion access is expected to be cut off for about 36 million women of reproductive age, according to research from Planned Parenthood, a healthcare organisation that provides abortions.

Outside the Supreme Court, demonstrators from both sides had gathered before the judgement came, with police keeping them apart.
One anti-abortion activist told the BBC she was "elated" as her side cheered the decision. "It's not enough just to make this the law of the land. To be pro-life is to make [abortion] unthinkable," she said.
Across the divide, pro-choice supporters decried the decision as "illegitimate" and even a form of "fascism".
The BBC's Samantha Granville, reporting from an abortion clinic in Little Rock, Arkansas, said that as the ruling was posted, doors to the patient area were shut and the sound of distant sobbing could be heard before she was asked to leave. The state is one of those subject to a trigger law.

The landmark 1973 Roe v Wade case saw the Supreme Court rule by a vote of seven to two that a woman's right to terminate her pregnancy was protected by the US constitution.
The ruling gave American women an absolute right to an abortion in the first three months (trimester) of pregnancy, but allowed for restrictions in the second trimester and for prohibitions in the third.
But in the decades since, anti-abortion rulings have gradually pared back access in more than a dozen states.

Disagree. Whatever happens in that hellhole influences what happens over here. Idiots I know on social media regularly re-post stuff from US sites not knowing it's not relevant in our country. Apparently, we have tens of thousands of homeless "vets" on our streets.:?:

Religious bigots in the UK are already standing outside clinics intimidating women. Push back on it.

I think we should leave other countries run their own. We are in a mess so not worried about what others are doing
The issue here is that you assume peopele in other countries are not interfering in how you run your own.

In the recent abortion referendum in the Republic of Ireland (2018), anti-abortion groups were funded by evangelical groups from the United States.

And on the other hand, they don’t want to bring in laws to try and prevent the slaughter of people who are already born. Something of an oxymoron.

It’s not pro-life, it’s anti-woman.

The woman is forced to give birth, whether she has the means to raise that child or not.

And once she has given birth there very little in the way of support for her or the child, meaning that if she doesn’t have a supportive family/partner or significant savings, they’re both going to struggle in life from there on.

Land of the free. Lol.

Let's face it, America has always been a third world country with a thin veneer of 1st World freshly painted over the top.
If you are white, male and Christian you can do what you want. If you are a woman or ethnic, unlucky.

The levels of institutionalised mysogony and racism that exist over there is astounding. Let's not forget that blacks couldn't even vote or go to their choice of school in our lifetime.

And let's not forget the number one reason for bankruptcy and house repossession in the US is due to healthcare bills.

they have the most ridiculous gun laws which take life away.

At 18 a woman can no longer choose not to have an unwnted child but she can walk into a gun store and buy a gun and take someone's life!

I understand your point and agree with the sentiment, but she can't legally just go and shoot someone. Unless they're black obviously.

Remember they banned booze during prohibition, it didn’t stop drinking it just sent it underground and into the hands of criminals.
Out of which eventually rose- like a phoenix rising from the ashes- such joys as: Budweiser, Coors Light, Bud Light, O'Douls, Miller Light, Coors Blue, Red Dog, Corona Extra, Select, Bud Ice, etc, etc etc.
The moral of the story being be careful what you wish for.

But bootlegging your own beer (or any other liquor for that matter, (no matter what Nanny says) is not in the same league, not even on the same scorecard as bootleg (or back street) abortions and that's what we're looking at here. They took place before RvW and they'll happen again. Why? Why can't a pregnant woman just go to another state? Because if you've got money you can find a professional to do the job properly and on the quiet. If you haven't got money you can't afford to go and stay a while in another state. That's the way it is the US. But it doesn't matter because if you're poor you're a loser and count for nothing anyway.
Sound familiar? We're catching up.

Watch this space. It'll be in their sights.
I would have thought it was already and automatically there. As I understand it, if conception hasn't yet taken place then the MAP prevents conception by delaying ovulation, but if it has then it works as an abortifacient.
The question, as always, is at what point after conception can termination be considered an abortion. You can bet your bottom rouble that with this lot its from the moment of conception onwards.
