    Verdant Putty

Previous to brewing Putty I did the Even Sharks clone. I already had some 2019 Galaxy from Yakima but was short so I ordered more, the 2020 and the difference in aroma between the two was night and day. The 19 batch was pure tropical fruit with passion fruit dominant. The 20 batch smelled like...

That looks seriously good. I'm must try it again if I can get my hands on some decent Galaxy. I used 2020 Galaxy I got from Yakima and it was terrible. Got more from Get er Brewed and it wasn't much better. Haven't bothered to get any of the 2021 batch yet. Where did you get your Galaxy from?

As far as I know that New England dry yeast is Conan. Just be careful as it's an even lower cell count than the Verdant one. I'm using Omega's DIPA liquid yeast which is also Conan. If you want to stay dry I know people who have had great success with pitching 1pack of Verdant and 1 pack of New...

You did well getting down to 18 considering the underpitch. When I did my Putty clone last year I got the lowest I've ever gotten with LA3 which was 18 too. I've gone back to using Conan for DIPAs which is so much easier to work work. Hope the beer ends up great for you.

You definitely underpitched. The cell count on the Verdant yeast isn't great and the calculator on the Lallemand site recommends 2 packs for your numbers. London Ale 3/Verdant is a nightmare of a yeast to use on DIPAs I find, would always sltall in the 20s for me too so just gave up using it. An...

    Verdant Putty

It's a great beer but slightly hyped. The Mosaic seemed a bit stronger than last years which seemed more Galaxy forward. To be honest I think Allan is a better beer. Picked up another two of them today along with Gus which is probably as good. Pomona Island are a great brewery. The Uvava and...

Brewed my attempt at Putty yesterday. So we'll see in a few weeks how it measures up.

Finally picked up this bad boy. The Mosaic is way stronger in the flavor than Galaxy. Going to make an attempt at this next weekend now so I can compare while it's still fresh in my head.

Yes, Galaxy on the hot side is puzzling and a concern for me. just done some quick calculation there based on a20L batch and have gone with Azzaca 5g/L, Mosaic and Galaxy 7g/L for an example Galaxy 140g Mosaic 140g (I'm using Lupomax so 25% less dosage is 106g) Azacca 100g 50g of each in a...

Your 15g/L pretty much lines up with the guy on Homebrew talk. It's what Verdant listed on their Even Sharks recipe too. I used to dry hop very successfully with the 22-25g/L rate, my BJCP judge friend said my last successful one was hands down commercial standard but around the last 5 brews...

Out of curiosity what would your average dry hop amount be for a DIPA? I'm averaging around 450g or 22g-25g/L but am getting little hop flavor lately, just a real mess of flavors and not all good flavors either. Going off a conversation on Homebrew talk some guy reckons hopping at these levels...

    Verdant Putty

That's what I pretty much based my recipe around with the exception of higher level of wheat based on the release blurb from this years Putty. I'd say that grain bill is pretty close along with using the water profile of "Sharks" Very interested in your take on things as the hopping rates still...

I'm not sure if they ship but most places like Ghost Whale seem to have suspended shipping till all the customs stuff gets sorted. Always got my Honest Brew stuff sent to a mail forwarding service Northern Ireland but that closed before Christmas. It's a bit of a mess at the moment. Malt Miller...
