Black IPA attempt, back after 3 years out. Help/Opinion please.

Thanks Nicks, although the beer is now somewhat less than the original 7.7% planned, due to me having to lower the grain bill but already having 27.5 litres mash water in the kettle 🤦🏼‍♂️ d’oh! Im due to travel to South Africa a week on Friday for just over a week, that would take the total time...

Black IPA attempt, back after 3 years out. Help/Opinion please.

Thanks for the reply Nicks, and yeah I got abit carried away without fully knowing how it will turn out. I wanted a nice backbone to be able to keep the hops popping. Never heard of Yorkshire Squares - i’ll check it out. You say 3 weeks, im looking to bottle this in two weeks. Would you wait longer?

Black IPA attempt, back after 3 years out. Help/Opinion please.

Hey guys, Just starting out with brewing (I’ve done around 10 all grain batches in the past but trying to get back into it now and you’ll see the mistakes that I've made with this one as you read) - I decided to make my own Black IPA recipe (bold I know with having quite a long time out, but I...

    Wanted - Grainfather G30 & Conical Fermenter

Yeah my budget isn’t at the £1k mark yet. I do have a plastic bucket and I could ferment in that until I get the Conical. I try to keep an eye on ebay but I haven’t tried fb marketplace. I’m in Bolton

    Wanted - Grainfather G30 & Conical Fermenter

Looking to kick start this hobby again after a few years out. Looking for a Grainfather G30, preferably one which has been well looked after. And also a Grainfather Conical Fermenter as this set up will be in my garage and I’d need the heating in the Fermenter to keep the temp constant. PM me...

    Grainfather

Ive just recently received my trial Grainfather, looking to do two brews with it. The first being a BrewDog Punk IPA clone. The second being as yet unknown, maybe a stout. I am concerned about the hops ill be putting into the grainfather, im hoping it wont clog the filter but to get around that...

    Clearing time

Haha thanks MyQul I've learnt something there. I just thought liquid yeasts are generally better than dried yeasts - probably based on that generally they are most expensive.

    Clearing time

Correct me if im wrong but i personally think the yeast used has a good part to play. After using a liquid yeast (whitelabs) ive noticed alot clearer beers. Also keeping the bottles/keg warm for two weeks helps

ok time to do the real stuff need help

The video may well be for a different type of beer but the principles are still the same. If you are looking for a small batch pale ale recipe there are loads knocking around, it also might be worth googling small batch recipies. An alternative might be to give beersmith a go, i havent used it...

    Grainfather trials

Im aware the thread is closed but was wondering if i might be able to throw my hat into the trial ring please? Saw these when they were first launched about 3-4 months back and love the idea. Would be a big step from kit beers but i dont fancy faffing with BIAB, this grainfather is the daddy by...

Innis & Gunn use the grainfather

The link below shows them using the grainfather and also they say they will release the recipe for the original - so us homebrewers can make a clone. http://innisandgunn.com/keep-discovering/blog/the-grainfather

    Angry Diabolo

Thanks rodabod, im just anxious i think because its clearly not quite fermented out. Who knows maybe ive in-advertently created my first 2nd ferment in the bottle brew and it might taste awesome. Will it die down after a while or will i end up with spewing bottles everytime i try and pour one in...
