My neighbour was throwing out a Husky beer fridge - the fridge itself was too small for a fermenting bucket to I hacked it apart and removed the compressor unit which is in working order.
Plan is to build a cupboard around it with MDF and Kingspan. Whats the best temperature controller to use...
50l pot. What kind of brewlength could I get with that? 40l?
With regards to the equipment I was hoping for some ideas on how to handle and strain the bag full of grains and boiling wort safely and tidily. Cooling and hop straining etc are also of interest.
There are number of premium quality AG setups available to the home brewer these days (e.g. from brewzone and this guy). I've been thinking about saving up my pennies and maybe if I had enough spare space I would purchase one next year.
However, recent talk about BIAB makes me think I can brew...
It should be ok but I wouldn't leave it much longer. Also, you might want to consider pitching a little more yeast so that there is some there to prime the bottles.
I got the same regulator from norm and it came with a plastic disc that fits nicely into the end which attaches to the cylinder. It's there to make it airtight.
Then wind out the screw in the middle and turn the cylinder on. If there is gas coming out then unscrew it until it stops. If you can still hear gas you've got a leak and will probably need to refit the regulator to the cylinder as above.
