DIY Hop back- Anyone used one?

Yes whole hops. Im not sure it was worth the addittionial losses dues to the dead space under the mashtun plate. Ive worked in a brewpub chain one of the breweries had an hopback and it had a wonderful hop flavour and aroma dedpite using the same recipe snd ingredients as mine.

DIY Hop back- Anyone used one?

I used my mash tun as a hop back. Jury was undecided as to whether it improved aroma, but I think there was a better hop flavour rather than hop bitterness.

    The Post Office Horizon Scandal

Wha I have never seen mentioned is where the missing money went? The heart of it accounting software is a balance sheet that has an audit trail. Hopefully the public enquiry will have the teeth to extract this information either from Fujitsu and/or the PO.

    The Post Office Horizon Scandal

Contaminated blood scandal. While I wouldn't want to minimise the suffering of one group by comparing it to another, cbs is on another level. Certainly in terms of deaths, numbers and payouts it will dwarf the po scandal. The gov has been kicking the can down the road for the best part of 50...

Brainstorming about ways of recapturing CO2 from fermentation

It's not ideal as it contains esters and alcohols you would have vented from the fv normally. It would need to be scrubbed, dried, compressed, frozen and packaged to get 'pure' CO2.

Brainstorming about ways of recapturing CO2 from fermentation

If I was to do it, and I have thought about it. For example to purge a keg prior to filling. I would fill the keg with water and a sodium met tab. Displace the water via gas in. Probably best to daisy chain a second keg to product port with a spunding valve to back pressure say 5psi. So at the...

    7 in 1 water tester

well if people are going to get their pants in a twist over .0005 of a point then I direct them to the Anton Parr device above. We all have an in built tilt ABV tester. standing upright is 0% pure water, lying down is about 2L of 10% divide by the number of degrees you are off vertical and you...

    7 in 1 water tester

I went to beer X and was chatting to the guy from Anton Parr who had some portable gravity testers (not much change from 2.5K if you were going to ask) I asked how it worked, there is a vibrating tube which measures the change in oscillation due to different density of liquid. Clever stuff. No...
