Yea. It is defo the more economical solution. Just as an FYI, prices may have changed, my 5l keg, spear lid, gas reg and flow control tap set me back about £110 two years ago.

The thing is, for the price full size corny kegs are much better value. The 16g co2 bulbs are ok, but expensive. I usually carbonate them with sugar and use the co2 bulbs when there isn't enough pressure left. You will also want a flow control tap if connecting straight to the keg.

I have a couple. They are good imo. I will often fill one and bottle the rest. That way if I am at an event I can take it with me. The only downside is all the parts are expensive. Two 5l with the right tops can really set you back a bit.

If I didn't have a grainfather I would def biab. I only got a gf because of temp control and chilling. But loved biab and made some unreal beers using it. Ferment temp control is also very important.

I am ready to bottle. Can I just check, do I blend and then add back some of the salt brine solution to make it at the right consistency?

Double post. Brewed a single hop pale today. Used Greg Hughes base malt selection. So it was 4.7 kg pale malt, 250g carapils. I used El Dorado. I didn't have the AA% of the hops but had heard that it is high. So I went with the following: 60 min addition of 15g 15 min addition of 35g 5 min...

Forgot to update this. It ended at 1012. So I guess about 5%. Tastes ok, lots of roasted goodness coming through.

About to make a smash using the Voss strain. How long should it take to bottle condition? Do you need to bottle condition at a high temp as well? Thanks

Sorry to dig up an old thread. But what are these like? I looked at a hop profile and it says citrus. Worth it in a single hop pale?
