Wow. That's either a 5 gallon batch with a really high abv or a 9 gallon 5.25 abv batch when using the external boil kettle (15 Gal with 8 qt/hr boil off rate). Again this is based on a Stout recipe I'm used to making. And RodCx550z - I hear ya. I keep opening doors to giant rooms of things I...

I'm still puzzling through optimizing efficiency and maximizing batch size. I'm a little concerned about maximizing grains and a stuck mash. I've been using 1.3 qt/lb but wonder if that can be stepped down to 1.25 qt/lb or even 1.2 since we have the recirculating pump (I'm talking ales here)...

USA Variety is 1800 watts. This barely holds a boil unless the lid is on but cocked. Reading this article tells me boils should be uncovered. https://www.winning-homebrew.com/dms-in-beer.html This lower power (than the European counterpart) means temperature ramping up to a boil is slow (45...

So what is the largest batch anyone has done with this? My plan is to only use it for mashing. Once the initial mash is done and I lift the grain basket the wort will be transferred into a 15 gallon boil kettle. Then drain while sparging into the boil kettle. Testing the sparge as I go. This...

Does anyone know the mating camlock for the recirculating pump outlet? These camlocks did not mate https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Quick-Disconnect-Snaplock-Fittings-C273.aspx So far I've slipped a hose over the end of the pipe but would rather have a fitting.

Glycol Dangerous - Use Cheap vodka instead for chilling?

Still wondering why not use cheap vodka. @ $15/gallon it wins on price. I'm thinking of a closed system with SS tubing in the fermenter, a water bottle in a freezer with a pump in it, and some valves, fittings, tubing... Servicing several carboys.

Glycol Dangerous - Use Cheap vodka instead for chilling?

After reading how incredibly toxic Glycol is I'm not thinking it's worth the risk of an accidental squirt into my beer. Why not just use vodka?

Well this is all very interesting. knowing what model you have (220V or USA 110V ) or the power setting you are using as well as the altitude of your location would be helpful. Also I bought mine recently so I have the updated controller (one without the grains graphic). I've seen a YouTube guy...

3rd Brew with this mash kettle today. I'm in the USA and have the 1800W version so I have to have the lid mostly on to maintain a boil. 1. Somehow I didn't notice the side volume markings are very inaccurate. 2. Temperature stability was +-3 degrees F, this seems pretty bad, is this what...

Hmm. So, while there is this really nice ability to pull the grist up to drain, it rains directly into the 1st runnings and the 2nd running is not channeled nor accessible before it combines with the 1st running. Short of draining the hot 1st runnings to a 2nd vesssel (losing the heat), I was...

While fly sparging how do I insure I do not overwash? There is not a convenient way to grab a sample of the sparge for testing.

So I pulled off the bottom finally and found the heater coil was stamped in big bold lettering 1800. I guess the heater coil itself is the limitation. Pretty disappointing. I've contacted Klarstein and requested a 220V option for the US (we do have those sockets conveniently in laundry rooms...

Yes the typical outlet supports 15A so 1800W and I'm sure the US UL standards require a limitation be oberved (don;t want to rely on breakers tripping to prevent a wall fire). What make me think this can be increased programatically is that there is already the ability to adjust power...

Looks like the US version will only run on 110V and is limited to 1800W :( I figure the power limit maximum is a setting on a hidden factory configuration menu. Anyone know if this can be accessed (special button press combo)? Naturally I would insure the outlet and building wiring would safely...
