    Secret Santa 2013

Time to sample ST3... Pours with a lovely fizz and a head of tight tiny bubbles, which didn't persist but pushed up some enticing wafts of liquorice and toffee. On the tongue, a nice prickle and smooth body, and characterised by dark malts, and that same liquorice hit. I like it for this...

    Secret Santa 2013

Happy New Year's Eve all. My turn to review Secret Santa swap USA5.. One glass for me, and one for the missus. Beer pours clear, with a lovely foam which persists throughout the drinking (I struggle with head retention on mine). Aroma is full on malt, with a bit of fruit on the back end, and...

    Peanut Butter Stout (Advice Sought...)

Cheers. Since the original post, I've decided your plan is a good one - I'm just going to brew a straight-talking stout, and then pull off some into a demijohn for a Peanut-butter and cocoa nib experiment. The peanut butter is a powdered one - on the other side of the pond, the seem to boil it...

    Brew fridge tips?

I love my brew fridge, it's made a massive difference to the quality of what I make. I'll generally get my wort into the mid-20s and then bung it in the fridge to stabilise around 17 (generally an hour) before pitching. I'll let it ferment for a couple of days them increase temperatures a degree...

    Peanut Butter Stout (Advice Sought...)

Hi all I'm planning to knock up a peanut-butter stout at some point next week, but my recipe design is feeling a bit 'throw it all in', so advice/observations welcome. Here's how it's looking so far... http://www.brewtoad.com/recipes/nimbus-1 ...I want to use the stock I currently have in my...

    Lenticular (an A-IPA)

Sometimes, its just the right thing to do to take a sunny Friday off to brew a beer. The beer in question is an American IPA, packed full of Cascade, Centennial and Columbus (Beertoad Recipe Here) Crushed the grain at midday, whilst the mash water came to temperature... Mashed at 67.5 to 68...

    Stockport Home Brew Colab.

Heya If you're ten minutes from the Magnet, your ten minutes from me - I'm just round the back of there, near the Nursery pub. I'd be up for doing something at some point - and for someone to do some brew swapping with. M

    I'm Back

Hi all, I've actually pottered around these forums before, but I've been AWOL for a while, and now I've returned. I never actually posted one of these threads, so I will now! So hello! I've been brewing for a couple of years, currently using a 30l HERMS systems concocted from Bergland shiny...

    another PID query

looks vaguely like an stc-1000 to me. if you search the forum, you'll find a few how-to's. Not really a PID, but will control a heater and/or cooler for a fermentation chamber fine.
