What Did you Cook this Weekend?

Nothing fancy. Apple Pie. Used the last of mum and dad's apple crop from last year. It will be reheated and served as part of a family casual meal for eight. It won't feed eight, so there'll also be a Viccy Sponge option, made tomorrow afternoon.

    God, that looks bleak.

    Brew2Bottle Customer Service

I noticed that when B2B sent me an email to say the St Peter's kits I wanted (asked for in Feb?) were back in stock. Their prices are still keen, so, despite the fiasco with the God-awful Gozdawa kits they sold me, I am tempted. :tinhat: Edit: Just noticed that 'back in stock' means they have 1...

    Partygate a new low.

It is the voice of the Tory party and prime mover in, and backer of, many of the Tories' most egregious laws and policy decisions. I read the DM online edition every day. Without fail. I like to know what horrors are being planned, so I can prepare for the worst.

    Partygate a new low.

The DM pulled the original online version (the one in your picture). They suffered a bit of a backlash with commenters choosing to let rip on how low Boris and the Tories have sunk. The usual DM fans suggested the reader comments were an organised left-wing plot to destabilise the Government or...

    Dutto's Brew Day

I've done three brews of the St Peter's Ruby Red kit. I don't have space for anything other than kits brewed in 30L fermenting bins that I can stack and hide in a cupboard when not in use. I condition in the bottle. After 3 weeks the Ruby Red was quite drinkable. After six it was very much...

It surprises me that wasn't more obvious at the time. :-)

What Did you Cook this Weekend?

By the way, if anyone sees the pics I have posted and wonders if I have only the one bowl to eat from, no, I have two! The black-rimmed one is for meat and fried dishes. I have a grey-rimmed bowl for non-meat and cold dishes. It's to help with weight loss. Lockdown caused my weight to soar. By...

What Did you Cook this Weekend?

What size? The Monoprix one I bought - circa 2004/5 - was big. 500g+? I love properly made Lincolnshire sausages (no supermarket comes close). With a good mash and a homemade caramelised onion gravy drizzled over, they are hard to beat.

What Did you Cook this Weekend?

Bought my first Confit de Canard in Monoprix (of all places) in Tarbes on my first trip abroad as a student. I decided to try and have it large for little or no money at all. :laugh8: The confit was a ridiculously low price, €6 or €7? But it tasted so good. So did the Cassoulet de Castelnaudary...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Aldi's Highland Black. Almost gone. Once it is, I'm off to bed.

    The Homemade Pizza Thread

Is it? The one in the green bag? I use it for making sandwich loaves in a 4kg pullman tin, tear-and-share buns and fruit loaves in 2kg tins (Mary Berry's Hot Cross Buns recipe - but with extra spices - she's a bit mean with hers). It's a very good flour and at a very good price.

    The Homemade Pizza Thread

I have been looking at the posts here about polytunnels. I had no idea what one was until I came here. How do you keep pests away? I like squirrels and feed them every day, but I read somewhere that they eat tomatoes.
