Nice looking brew BigYin, gonna have to try this one :thumb: Have you tried 'Brupaks Anitfoam'? I started using it recently and it works a treat

... that's what it's all about Sean, we all crave for the 'perfect' kit but it's brewing a great pint that makes me proud :drink:

    Lidl boiler.

Thanks for the info :thumb: I ordered the drill stones from ebay (bargain) along with a new tap, one of these, it's the second one I have purchased from this fella, good product and excellent service. So hopefully I'm gonna have a stress free weekend converting the boiler to a mash tun :pray...

    AG #2 - Eskimo Bitter

I used Brupaks Antifoam for the first time at the weekend, it worked like magic  No danger of boilover (as long as you watch it, armed with a spray bottle) ... and apparently it doesn't effect the head retention of the finished beer :thumb:

Leaving it too late? Yeast starters...

... excellent tip Aleman, never seen this before. I'm never sure how far in advance to make a starter, I've always thought it should be active.

    s-04 or kit yeast

I would say yes, the yeast supplied with kits is usually very basic to keep costs down. I have found with most kits if you take extra care with clenliness, treat your water with half a campden tablet, ferment the wort at the correct temperature with a decent yeast you're going to brew a decent...
