Too late for a Christmas brew??

I've made brew UK extract kit of wreck the halls and after just 10 days in the bottle ( following 2 weeks in fermenting bin) its amazing. A little more to it than a regular kit but well worth it. Best xmas brew so far, and I've made dasher the flasher, donner and blitzed, Geordie winter warmer &...

    Tesco Direct

Geordie mild was £8.50, and like stated £3.75 for bke means £12.25 for 40 pints, what's that, under 32p a pint? Bargain!

So what else do home brewers do?

I'm singer guitarist in a band and duo. Drinking helps inspire me to write new material - got a porta studio i record it all on. Blues/rockabilly/Americana/roots that kind of thing!

The brewing year and how it's going

As many on here will soon be brewing the last drinks of the year, how about letting everyone know how it's gone - what's worked, what's not etc.A beer blog if you like. I do kits (as they are) plus adapted kits and also extract (maybe biab next year in addition!) This is how this year's turned...

    Newcastle Brown for me Dad!

Simply brown ale kits aren't a million miles away, especially if done with brew kit enhancer. I actually prefer it to be honest, good luck!

    Low alcohol beer?!!!

Cheers, i'll certainly be looking to use maltodextrin in future brews. I tried my brew the other day and it was very weak tasting, but with the 25g columbus hops and the bittering hop oil it tastes a whole lot better. The latest gravity reading is 1.006 from 1.020 which is around 1.8%. How much...

    Low alcohol beer?!!!

Interesting about the artificial sweeteners. When you say a little maltodextrine Rob, how much do you feel would be needed?

    Low alcohol beer?!!!

I know this post hasn't been expanded for over a year and a half but due to recent bad health, i am faced with the prospect of cutting my drinking levels. I've read up on not only this thread, but elsewhere on the net and am currently experimenting with an extract brew. I'm not expecting...

Ritchies Festival Pride of London Porter Review

It's now just over 4 weeks since i bottled. Week 2 tried a 330ml bottle. No head, stouty taste, very average. Week 3, another 330ml bottle, a little head, still no great flavour developed. Week 4, the beer is producing a head, and clinging to the glass. The aroma is of dark fruit, like...

Cask Ale from An American Standpoint

Greetings from rainy England (today at least for most of us!) Personally, if it's a lager or light beer, i like fizz. Imagine a flat lager? Not good! When it comes to darker more complex brews, i don't mind if there's little or no fizz, and in the same way, nor do i want them to be too cold...

    Simply, Brown Ale Kit Review

Brewsmarter.co.uk do malt extract tins really cheaply.delivery is free after £65 has been spent. They're dirt cheap anyway (£4 for 1.5kg tin) but offer 16x 1.5kg tins for £58. When i make any 1 tin kits, adding a 4 quid tin of this just gives a much better result, plus it's cheap enough to...
