    Has anyone tried princes fruit filling for adding to beer? I have looked at the ingredients and see no preservatives which may kill yeast or anything. This gave me an idea for a black forest stout. Way cheaper than purée (maybe for good reason)

    Sorry to piggy back the thread, I’m looking to do a Sussex Best clone for a wedding anniversary’s (they are from Sussex) does anyone know if they contain the house yeast? Maybe the mini keg will? I can’t seem to find out

    Help! Infection in the brewery!

    I recently had to dump a tcp batch after cleaning my kettle with barkeepers friend. Not sure if it wasn’t rinsed properly or I got an infection. Either way, I soaked everything overnight in PBW and a good sanitisation with Milton. My last brew has been fine. Could be worth a go?

    I recently was put on to this 5-10-15 theory, not sure if it the right way to go, but I’ll try it. based on 10 imperial gallons this would be 225g, 450g, 675g approx

    So I have 50g of frozen hops left from an old brew to use in a new batch tomorrow. The question is should I defrost first or do you get better results thrown in the boil from frozen?

    Thought I’d take a look, Sainburys has them for £4 a bottle, a bottle makes 7-9 litres so if you use two and make 18 litres so it’s about par.

    Cold steep or late in the mash?

    Last stout I added the dark grains for the last 10 mins of the mash, whilst the stout is nice and light I felt it lacked a bit of the roastness, I think I’ll do 20 mins next time
