    Pitching yeast, how much?

Thanks I will do some investigating! :)

    Pitching yeast, how much?

Point taken, I hadn't realised that yeast contributed so greatly to taste, better safe than sorry I guess. But for the sake of argument, with care, i.e. taking off a half pint of boiled wort at the start of the boil into a sterile bottle to give the yeast a head start, one should be confident...

    Pitching yeast, how much?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but how about going the opposite way to the OP. A good yeast can represent a significant cost in an AG brew >10%, what about HALF a pasket for 23L? (Also whats the best way to store an opened packet, air tight box?) Regards, Chris

    Unsealed hops.....problem?

Well, sorted out the brew on saturday, quite pleased for my first AG. Ended up with a SG of 1.050 which I think is quite pleasing..... although I only yielded 18 litres (from a start of 25) due to loses to grain hops and boil. Will do a brew day write up when I have a few more minutes...

    Unsealed hops.....problem?

I am happy to report that I recieved an email from the MD at Brupaks and he was happy to replace, so thumbs up all round to Clive and Brupaks, hopefully the post will get it to me for some brew action at the weekend! :thumb:

    Unsealed hops.....problem?

Well 24 hours later no reply. To be fair I have emailed them in the past once regarding a deiscrepancy in info on one of their instructions on volumes, I got a reply almost by return from their Director Clive Donald... so I remain hopeful :?

    Unsealed hops.....problem?

I think it is probably a blend of hops, I have googled it and no pointers... I am guessing they would be protective over their recipe. Would it matter more with certian varieties of hops? Will I get the bitterness but not the aroma? They don't smell anywhere near as pungent as other hops I...

    Unsealed hops.....problem?

Hi all, Just preparing to do my first AG with a Brupaks London Bitter mashkit... and I have found that the supplied hops, rather than being nicely vacuum packed, are in fact open. On the basis that they are normally vacuum packed and once opened you forum folk tend to seal and freeze...

How to make a premium beer kit, from start to finish.

Having bought a electrim boiler, and constructed a copper chiller, I am always tempted to boil the whole length... if only for sanitisation reasons... ....is there any merit in doing this at all? Can a hot or cold break occur with a kit? ....also Irish Moss in a kit brew, wasted effort? Best...

How to make the most of your beer kit

Interested that you leave in extended periods in the bucket, I get a bit twitchy once the head of dead yeast and gung drops no longer providing any protection for the brew. Do you not use a secondary with airlock?? Regards, Chris

    Greetings from EXETER!

Hi, Just joined the forum spontaniously, not been lurking so will take some time to familiarise myself. My brewing history is relatively short: I have done a couple of Brupaks Craftsman Kits using canned extract, I have a turbo cider maturing, and a Brewmaster IPA kit bottle conditioning. My...
