I’ve also wondered this, thanks for the input everyone. I’m doing a youngs ipa kit just now as per instructions, but plan to try another with a few additions! I bloody love beer.

Thanks for that, liking the idea of a blow off tube, could save a lot of cleaning up.

that’s a cracking bit of advice for the future, thankfully SWMBO didn’t see the foam over before I managed to clean up so I think I got away with it this time!!!!

That’s great news thanks! The foam has pushed the water out of the airlock so I assume I’m going to have to replenish that when I clean it? This forum is awesome for info, I didn’t realise home brewing was as popular!!

Hi folks, I’ve just started my very first brew, as the title suggests it’s Young’s American ipa. It’s been on for about 24hrs and has started bubbling out froth from the air lock, is this normal or have I messed up somewhere???? please help i bloody love beer.
