Hi there,

I have a Tom Caxton Real Ale Beer Making Kit.
The BBE date is Nov 2010.

Should I brew it or bin it?

The Hop enhancemen system is BBE Aug 2012 so that ok.

Also, says can vary amout of above sachet to taste. Half for smooth enhanced hop flavour, full for nore bitter beer with increased aroma, hop flavour and refreshing tanginess.

I'm not a huge ale drinker (yet), so I'm guessing half sachet. Any opinions welcome.

Thanks guys.

give it a go :thumb: nothing to lose , dont see why it shouldnt make a quaff-able pint

I'd also brew with it but I'd have a spare packet of yeast to hand just in case the yeast has past away...

:drink: It has a bbe date for a reason. Best before. It will be fine after but won't be at it's best. Now if it said exp or use by then I wouldn't use it.

Only just returned to brewing and wine making after a few years absence. I had that Muntons Conkerwood Ale kit sitting under the stairs for years. BBE 2006 !!! So had a go with some newish yeast (BBE 2010 !!) and it turned out fine. I think with basic foodstuffs if they are kept in reasoable conditions they can last for many years after the BBE date ...
However, I did find a couple of can of grape juice concentrate which had started to leak ....
