    Tube reducer . . . . . . . . .

A friend has kindly loaned me their conical fermenter. I'd like to continue bottling my beer from it but for the life of me I can't work out how to connect up my bottling stick to it. I need some type of pipe/tube reducer. Picture below for info. Can anyone help please? Many thanks. Metal...

    Cider . . . . . a bit vinegary . . . . should I drink it?

Hi Folks, my cider tastes a little bit vinegary. I would like to persevere and drink it but not if it will make me ill. Should I drink it? I really don't want to throw it away. I made it in November from garden apples. The juice was incredibly sweet so had high hopes. Wanting to be as...

    What are you drinking tonight?

Tonight I am drinking two bottles of "Proper Job", Cornish IPA by St Austell Brewery. 5.5%. Very hoppy and lovely. It's bottled conditioned so has sediment which I quite like. Just like my home brew.

How do you tell when wine is clear?

Don't get too precious about sediment. It's proof that it's not a mass produced manufactured overly processed wine. It's artisan, made lovingly by you. It's simply the remaining tiny amounts of yeast doing their thing and won't affect the taste of your wine.

    Single can kit brews

Personally I wouldn't brew quite that short. But I say, do it!! And report back, let us know if it's worth doing. The good thing about this hobby is you can try things just like what your suggesting. If it works, happy days. If it doesn't, still happy days but you try summit else next time...

    Alternatives to Stout

To buy rather than brew . . . . . I love LOVE Old Engine Oil from Harviestoun Brewery. They call it a black ale and it's bloomin lovely. Waitrose sell it.

    Bottle or king keg?

Bottle is a faff, can be messy and time consuming but by heck it's a pretty sight when they're all laid out with their new caps on em.

    New to Cider - Temperature!

I think you will be fine. It might just take a little longer to ferment out. I don't think it's cold enough anywhere yet to halt a brew if indoors. Good luck!

    yeast type

Just put a turbo on myself. I use Gervin GV4 high alcohol wine yeast. I like to use this one cause I know it ferments from the bottom with no frothing. So when I rack to a demijohn in a week or so I know I can fill it to the top.

    Any whisky connoisseurs?

I love a wee dram (I'm Brummie but SWMBO is Scottish). Of the supermarket single malts my favourite is Talisker and at £25 it's a great price. I got mine!! And the Isle if Skye is a fantastic island to visit if you like walking. And the distillery tour is worth taking in too!!
