Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

Good news. After implementing the advise of sugar/water mixture, 3 days in an airing cupboard @ 22-23C has got it down to 1.010. As per instructions, its ready for bottling. Good advise. I'll let you know how it tastes as well shortly

Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

Lovely I will check that out spapro. Thanks for all the advice guys. Just out of curiosity, how many days would you be satisfied with to say it has finished fermenting? If the hydro showed the same level for 3 or 4 days consistently?

Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

OK the plan, mix some sugar (15g) with some boiling water 300ml to get a syrup. Add to the FV, stir slowly and gently for 2-3 mins, move to a warmer cupboard for another 3 days and take a reading then..... This sound good? If this doesn't do much, I'll add some enzyme. Cheers all the help

Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

OK thanks for that....would doing that plus another thorough areation and moving it to a warmer aering cupboard be better. The way I'm thinking is that the brew has more or less fermented quite well, just needs that little tiny push to bring it down further.

Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the hydrometer measures the sugar levels of the brew. As fermentation converts the sugars to alcohol, how does more sugar convert sugar and reduce the SG?

Reactivating/boosting fermentation after stopping at 1.020??

Hello, Been making a Bitter from kit (first try). Started 12 days ago, pitched at 25C, moved to storage cupboard upstairs where the FV has been at a steady 18C. I spoke to my homebrew guy at the time and he advised me its better to have a lower, constant temperature than a fluctuating higher...

Bung in 2" pressure valve cap

Thought as much. Do you have a link to that cap. Yeah the valves are £10 plus the holder and CO2 bulbs....hitting £20 already. Would CO2 be needed on a Bitter brew in the barrel? I was thinking of bottling 5 litres and having 17 in the keg. With a fixed sealed cap would this hold in enough...

Bung in 2" pressure valve cap

I have a 2" pressure barrel cap which is missing the CO2 injection valve and thus has a small square hole in the cap.Currently brewing some bitter (no priming sugar will be added) but I want to keg it. Can I use a rubber bung in the cap and will it hold pressure? Or is it worth splashing out...

    Newbie: Thermometer in FV

Hello all, This is my first homebrew, my dad made a few 30 years ago but I have decided to give it a go. Picked up some bits of equipment to go with the bits we already owned and got a Jubilee Ales premium Bitter kit from my local brew shop (Burnley Home Brew). Just got the FV away...
