Have a go at simple AG

There's a glossary button near the top of the page but it isn't in there. AG stands for All Grain which means using grains instead of Liquid (LME, as in most beer kits) or Dried Malt Extract (DME).

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Made this kit in April. Left in FV for 2 weeks and bottled with carbonation drops. I tried a bottle after 2 weeks conditioning and it had a odd taste to it - an almost sour finish. Some guests have enjoyed it but I can never finish a whole glass. I've tried a bottle every month since...

Beavertown Neck Oil IPA is nicer than the Gamma Ray in my opinion.

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Only hops I have at the moment are about 25g of Chinook pellets...could make something pretty special by adding it to this kit. How late to add the hops though?

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Just bottled the Youngs APA, I'm planning to do this kit next - would anyone advise swapping the yeast out for Safale s-04? Or adding extra hops? Cheers

    Craft beer co. london

Kernel is very good beer, my local wine shop stocks a good selection. The "Table Beer" they brew is very good. London restaurants sell the 330ml bottles for ~£4 a pop.

    Golden ale

Hi all, Any advice on kits to get a really nice golden ale from? I'm happy with tweaking a kit if necessary. I'm after something which will end up tasting like a Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted. Golden, citrusy, slight sweetness, just the right hoppyness....the perfect session ale? Cheers

    Has brew started..?

I found that my "bubbler" didn't bubble much to start with when I first used it, I had to press the pressure out of the lid to make it "bubble". 2 weeks later and it seemed to be bubbling happily. If you can see a krausen starting then that's all that matters (even that can take a few days though!)

    The Do and Don't thread.

Some advice from a newbie to other newbies: easy way to control temps: Buy one of those green 40L flexible gardening buckets (£5 from my local "we-sell-everything" shop). Order a cheapo fish tank heater from amazon. Ta-da! Consistent 21°C fermentation.

    Best commercial beer

My local wine shop has had Beavertown's "Quelle" on sale for the last few weeks @ £1.50 a bottle. It's described as a "dry hopped saison" and it's lovely, can't get enough!

    Re: Festival Razorback IPA Review

Fermentation has finally finished (day 12) - measuring at 1.005 on my hydrometer so I've thrown in the included hops - the packet smelled amazing! Might add 50g of EKG pellets after 3 days and bottle in 5 days.
