    Maris Otter £16 a 25kg bag...in Cheshire...

Thanks for the heads up Marlon, much appreciated. My Dad picked up some malt from Ivor at Bridgewater Brewing yesterday for me. Ivor showed him round his setup and even let him sample his double chocolate stout which was apparently excellent!

Hi, I would love an Inkbird ITC-306T for my fermentation fridge project. Can you please add me in to the draw? Thank you!

    The crossmyloof brewery yeast

Last week I kegged two pales that I had brewed. In one I'd used us-05 and in the other CML US Pale Ale yeast. Both looked clear whilst syphoning but the CML yeast had a yeasty smell to it. I saved a jar of slurry from each of the brews incase I had the time to brew this weekend. I haven't yet...

    All Grain Brewing System reviews.

Hi, I have a Bulldog Brewer and I've been trying to set up an accurate equipment profile in beersmith over the last few brews based on one I found online. I have been finding that my efficiency is ranging between 70 and 80% dependent on the recipe. I watched a YouTube video of a new brew...

    The crossmyloof brewery yeast

Sounds like a decent company, not used them yet myself. I think I'll give their yeasts ago after I've used up my current stocks. Thanks

    The crossmyloof brewery yeast

Came across these yeasts on eBay and I'm just wondering if anyone has tried them yet? At those prices it would be interesting to hear how the US Pale and Real Ale yeasts compare to other dried yeasts in terms of flavour and flocculation.

    Peco boiler.

I'm finding this thread quite interesting seeing how peoples Beersmith profiles differ for the same boiler. I also have the HBC Peco boiler with hop strainer and have my profile set as follows: Batch Size: 23.00 l Mash Volume: 27.00 l Boil Volume: 32.08 l Mash Tun Weight: 1.50 kg...

    Hop Growing in the garden

Just thought I'd post a couple of photos of my hop plants taken on Monday evening. I bought 3 Prima Donna hops as bare rooted plants from ebay at the back end of last year. They had plenty of roots and buds when I received them and were planted straight into builders buckets / trugs filled...

    1st recipe attempt

I'm finding that I when I drink commercial beers I much prefer those with higher IBUs that are around 4/4.5% abv. Celt Golden Age is a personal favourite and that comes in at 4.2% and 46 IBUs. I am going to go with a 30/40g Cascade dry hop as well for aroma.

Making the move to Corny kegs - few questions

OK that's great, thanks guys. Sounds like it'll be a bit of trial and error as far as beer line lengths are concerned then with me not having a kegerator/cooler. Also looks like I'll be adding a manifold/ management board to my equipment list.

    1st recipe attempt

Thanks guys! Not come up with a name for it yet I'll wait to see how it turns out

Making the move to Corny kegs - few questions

Hi Godsdog, Thanks for your reply. So after force carbing you disconnect from the gas and leave it to condition before connecting it back to the gas via the gas management board to serve? If so that would solve my issue of having more kegs than gas outlets. I haven't got a kegerator...yet, so...

Making the move to Corny kegs - few questions

Hi, I recently decided to make the move to cornelius kegs from bottling and over the last few weeks I've been busy reading up on kegging and gathering the bits and pieces that I need for the setup. I have 3 corny kegs, full co2 cylinder, dual guage regulator, disconnects, beer line/gas...

    1st recipe attempt

Brewed this on Friday. This was the 5th AG batch that I have brewed and my first attempt at brewing a beer to my own recipe so I'm hoping it turns out OK. :) 4.50 kg - Pale Malt 330g - Crystal Malt 60 min. mash at 66c 60 min. boil 30g Herkules (60 min - 46.2 ibus) Added ½ a...

AG#1: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone

Excellent write up of your first proper AG brew day, thanks for taking the time to post it. I am new to BIAB as well, having now completed 4 brews, and have also experienced the issues you have ending up with a lower than expected volume in the fermenter. I seem to find that the losses due to...
