    Cascade / Saaz Ale

Thanks Guys I have only dry hopped once before but really liked what it added as regards aroma, I will do this again five days prior to bottling. The 30 min hops I presumed would add both flavour and a little bitterness. Will the 60 min addition be enough bittering on their own? If so I will...

    Cascade / Saaz Ale

So I am getting geared up for my second BIAB this Tuesday. The HBC Blonde Ale was a triumph, tasted a bottle after a week carbonating and as expected it's got a way to go but God it's good :thumb: I'm thinking of something like: Water : 23l Pilsner malt : 5k Torrified wheat : 226g...

    Which Keg?

Hi All So up until now i have bottled all my beers as i have found it a good way to experiment and tweak beer kits - I normally split one kit into two by dry hopping half. Thing is now i have a couple of brews under my belt that i really enjoy i am thinking of buying a keg with some...

    Improving clarity

Yes johnnyboy1965 i think i have confused the terminology. The sample left in the trial jar is now crystal clear so i am hoping this will be the same when it comes to bottling, leave it alone a little longer and hopefully i will get the same result. I did chill a few bottles of Coopers lager...

    Improving clarity

Hey Guys So two weeks tomorrow my first AG BIAB blonde ale will have had 2 weeks in the FV. Popped open the lid to take a FG reading and got 1013, which is close to the 1014 expected. The trial jar looks ok but is still a little hazy, even after using the clearing tablet provided with the...

    HBC Blonde Ale - BIAB

Yes they went into the boil, one pack for 60 minutes one for 15 and one at flame out. I used a hop bag, I know that will maybe diminish the effectiveness slightly but I was worried about blocking up the tap. I need a hop strainer for next time. Hops are as listed by cheapbrew. Must say the...

    HBC Blonde Ale - BIAB

Hi Everyone So i finally got my hands on my new BIAB starter kit from the HBC on the 17th as it was my birthday. I brewed the HBC Blonde Ale kit. I was really pleased with the equipment and the kit, everything you need in one box and bag! Quickly i got set up and heated the 27l of...

    BIAB Help!

Thanks for this - That clears that up then :thumb: The 0 hops then will just remain in while i cool the wort down using the wort chiller before transferring to the FV? The hops that go in early will they add the bitterness / flavour and the ones that just get 10 - 15 mins as the wort cools...

    Coopers Lager Kit

So i drew this off into a secondary yesterday and added some finnings and plan to leave a few days before bottling half as is and further dry hopping the remainder. The brew tastes great, it's not crystal clear (hence adding the finnings) but definitely more of what i was after! The DME and...

    BIAB Help!

So i understand that i have to control the temperature of the grain during the 60 - 90 minute soak. After this i pour 80 degree water over the grain bag to bring the level up to the target level - is this the sparge? Then i bring this to the boil - should this be done in the kit heater...

    BIAB Help!

So I decided to treat myself to the Home Brew Companys basic BIAG starter kit. At £76 including delivery I thought it was a good deal and knowing I would want to develop my brews in the future I thought what the heck! I got a blonde ale kit with it so I'm good to go. I have little idea...

    Mr T Brewday

Hi Bevvied No problem at all, I'm looking forward to seeing the results myself. Splitting the brews is a bit of work but I am eager to see the difference as there is a lot of possibilities. When I latch on to one I really enjoy I will then brew full batches. After five days dry hopping the...

    Mr T Brewday

So today I got busy on a much needed day off :) I bottled 15 bottles of wherry from the primary fermentation vessel before transferring the remaining brew into a secondary and dry hopping with 20g of cascade using a muslin bag. Be interesting to see the difference. I also brewed a coopers...

    Coopers Lager Kit

This is exactly what i am after, a pale ale rather than a lager. The plan so far is to use 1KG DME with 300g of brewing sugar, using some cascade in the boil. I have never deviated from the kit instructions so far so hopefully i will be able to produce something worth drinking!
