Leaving hobby, all equipement to go, South London.

As titled, I'm leaving the hobby (no space, bloody lockdown). Have 3 pressure barrels (1 king keg), 2 fermentation vessels (1 bucket, the other a wide necked FV), a few unused kits (good ones), some yeast packs , a conical flask, bottle washer, measuring equipment and various bits n bobs wine...

Wanted: Saison yeast near south London

Right, after a lot of **** dealing with leaks in my pressure barrel I’ve started tucking into this properly. It’s a very belgiany ale, sweet, a bit sour. Just my type. Pretty strong, been getting nicely sloshed the last week. Would I recommend again? Yes, as long as you like Belgian ales...

Wanted: Saison yeast near south London

I have to ask though, why wait to add the spray malt and not just do at the beginning? I’m confident this yeast could handle it.

Wanted: Saison yeast near south London

I’ve put mine in the pressure barrel a few days ago. Didn’t transfer to a secondary, just added the malt direct to the primary. That 6g packet of yeast is a beast! Had it fermenting at 26C, was bubbling like a mofo for days. Had a quick taste after barrelling it, initially sour/citrusy...

Wanted: Saison yeast near south London

Hi Mark, the yeast kicked off after 24 hours. I’m not used to that ( not even so much as a bubble when I rehydrated it) so assumed it was totally dead. I’m guessing the reason for the second FV is to allow the dry malt extract powder to mix with the wort. It’s the only reason I can think of...

Wanted: Saison yeast near south London

Morning all, I’ve just kicked off Muntons Belian style ale kit. But the yeast (only 6g) is DOA, absolutely no life in it. Anyone have a pack of Saison yeast near south London and I’ll pop around to collect today. Cheers.

    Wilko Wheat Beer

I made a "tea" with fresh zest. The FV smelled like fanta afterwards.

    Brewmaker Northumberland Brown Review

Resurrecting an old thread, have just done this kit with 1kg medium spray malt, 1098 wyeast (English yeast) and pressure barrelled it. Has been in the barrel for about 2 weeks now. Op is correct in that it's nothing like Newcastle Brown but it's still a nice ale, very smooth, very drinkable...

    Strategy

You could just brew a load of single can kits without adding extra malts, 12L instead of 22L at a time. Get used to the process, and see which styles you're happiest with (result wise). You could progress to extract brewing with small batches. I've found I'm drinking a lot more than before...

    Wheat beer kit suggestions?

I've done Wilko's and Festivals wheat kits. Wasn't too happy with either but it could just be me, was in the summer and the temps were all over the place.

    Too much beer

Out of interest, what are you using as a bottle washer? As dan125 has said bottling is a big PIA, I just got myself a rinser/sanitiser thing and even though it's just a cheapy thing it's helped A LOT. Bottled a batch over the weekend, shaved off at least 30 minutes. Also any way to...

Pitch on yeast cake multiple times or save starter for reuse?

Well, they're 8% belgians (all 3 of em) so I'm thinking more on the splitting side currently.

Pitch on yeast cake multiple times or save starter for reuse?

I'm going to be brewing three Belgian Tripel one after another using a WYeast pack. Should I do a simple starter using all of it in my first fermentation, pitching my wort directly onto the yeast cake with the following brews OR Should I split my starter, saving some to make a new...

    Muntons Connoisseurs Bock Review

I've just bottled this and I'm very surprised at how it's turned out. 5.2%ABV, after drinking a glass it is very very mild. I used leftover yeast from my previous brew (a Festivals Vienna lager, super buttered buttery butter) with a Californian lager yeast, underpitched. This is the cleanest...
