    A couple n00b questions

Hi DX4100, I'm like you in that I have just started brewing, and put my 2nd kit on at the weekend. I bought myself a Coopers Microbrewery which is a slightly modified version of the one in your link (what I can gather the only difference is that it has a slightly different fermentor). The 1st...

How do you choose your next kit?

The 1st kit I did was a Coopers Lager as it came with the microbrewery. I've just put on a my 2nd brew today which was a Milestones raspberry wheat beer. I chose the Milestone kits as I saw it in the window of the local homebrew shop so I did a google search and saw it had some good reviews.

    Milestones kits

I've just put on the raspberry wheat beer kit today. This is only my 2nd brew and maybe it is something that happens with all kits but the instructions on the side of the box where different to the instruction sheet inside the box. For example on the side of the box it says use 3.5l of boiling...

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

I made a Coopers Aussie Lager for my 1st attempt a few weeks ago. I'm drinking it now and I'm pretty chuffed with the results for a 1st go. I gave my old man a few bottles and he asked for some more so it cant be too bad. Going to try another Coopers kit soon but could do with getting more...

    Good Beer Kit?

I'm drinking my first kit right now. It was a Coopers Aussie lager. I'm impressed with the taste and for a first go I'm chuffed with the results. Just trying to gather up some more bottles now so I can get brewing again quicker.

    1st Brew

Hi Geoff, Thanks for the list of stuff you've done, something to think about. I've been watching some videos on youtube by a guy called Craigtube and he did one of the St Peters kits and said they wer really good. I noticed a thread about Raspberry Wheat beers on here and I'm keen to give one...

    1st Brew

Just a quick update. Had my Coopers lager in the bottles for nearly a week now and couldnt resist trying one. Got to say I'm presently surprised. As this was my first go I wasnt expecting much but it actually tastes quite good, had a good head when poured and was well carbonated. :thumb: As...

    Sanitizing Bottles

Thnaks for the info guys. I think I'm going to sanitise on the day I bottle. What i was most concerned about was leaving a few drops of water in the bottle.

    Sanitizing Bottles

Hello, I have 2 (probably stupid) questions about sanitizing bottles. My question is how long can I leave them before filling. For example if I was going to bottle on Saturday could I sanitize the bottles on Friday night or does it need to be done on the same day as bottling? :wha: The second...

    1st Brew

Thanks for that. I just had a look at those calculators. Very useful tools. I notice from your signature that you are drinking Coopers Wheat beer. Whats it like? I'm was thinking about giving it a go next.

    1st Brew

I do have a question but its about water this time. Do you use campden tablets? One of my pals has just made a batch too and he didnt bother, just used the water straight from the tap. As this was my first go I did but I'm wondering if I need to bother as the water here is pretty good. Cheers

    1st Brew

I've been thinking about the gravity and decided to test the hydrometer in water. I actually have an old hydrometer I got from a mate but this kit came with one so I used it. When I put the old one in the water it floated at 1.000 exactly, the new one floated lower than this, so taking the...

    1st Brew

Yes, I did a bit of research and they seemed to get good reviews. I'm interested to try their Wheat beer so might give that a shot next.

    1st Brew

Thanks for that. Its put my mind at rest. I'll live with it not being as strong as it might have been. For a first try I'm just hoping its drinkable. I can see this being addictive I'm already thinking about what to try next.

    1st Brew

Hello, Got myself a Coopers DIY homebrew kit the other day and now have 23 litres of Cooper's Aussie lager sitting in the fermentor. As this was my first go I'm sure I've made a few mistakes but I followed the instructions so fingers crossed. After sanitising all the stuff (fermentor, tin...

    1st Brew

Stephen, Thanks for the link, being a thrifty Scotsman the fact it's £5 cheaper makes it more appealing :D There is a shop near me that sells some brewing stuff but I'm not sure to what extent but that gives me a good place to start with prices etc. Cheers Sponge
