    Hop ideas

Thanks for the idea I've never thought of boiling the hops as I usually just dry hop. Cheers Dicko

    Hop ideas

Hi all I recently made a youngs NWS which went wrong before I added the hops. So I have 90g of hops and was looking for ideas as to what to use them on. I believe they are Pacific jade and motueka but not sure of the split. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers Dicko

    Coopers Irish stout

Hi jeff I haven't made the coopers irish stout but I have made the regular coopers stout using a recipe a forum member named terrym offered me. 1 can coopers irish stout. 500g dark spray malt. 600g golden syrup. 100g dark muscavado sugar. 1 dessert spoon of treacle. and 3 shots of strong fresh...

    N00b in need of help

I agree with badger. I've never made the richies lager as I use the coopers European lager and go with something similar. I go with the kit plus 500g of light spray malt and 700g of sugar, brewed to 21L with a 50g saaz dry hop at the end of fermentation. It come out at around 5.4%. Its a nice...

    All-day drinking beer kit?

It was indeed. After reading the thread on the wherry I feel lucky to have achieved 3.9%. Having said that I still enjoyed the brew and at 3.9% it ment I could have a few during the week whilst watching the football. Cheers Dicko

    All-day drinking beer kit?

Yes it does but it never seems to reach 4.5%. Going off notes I made when brewing the wherry the best I achieved was 3.9%. Others may have been more successful. Cheers Dicko

    St Peter's IPA

This is one of my favourites also. I've made it numerous times and always found it to be best after around 8 weeks in the bottle, well worth the wait, absolutely superb. I'm just waiting for a empty fv and I'll be putting another one on. Cheers Dicko

    All-day drinking beer kit?

Try a wherry. Brewed to instructions that doesn't come out much more than 3.5%. Cheers Dicko

    Coopers European Lager Review

Hi alice When I brew the coopers European lager I use saaz as a dry hop. Have you ever dry hopped it and if so what hops did you use? Cheers Dicko

    Coopers stout advise

The original recipe I got off terrym was brewed to 19l so will have been slightly stronger. I brewed to 20l as I didn't have a 19l mark on my fv. By the way the coffee added is fresh ground not instant. Although a work colleague did add a couple of capsules from his coffee machine!:laugh8...

    Coopers stout advise

Hi Neilb I've brewed this many times and every time it came out at 4.73%. Og 1046 finished at 1010, it's well balanced and tastes fantastic. Cheers Dicko

    Mangrove Jacks Grapefruit IPA

Hi martinp This kit is my next brew and like all brews that require dry hopping i always wait till fermentation has just about finished before adding the hops. I find that adding the hops during fermentation can make for a very bitter ale, So I usually wait till gravity is down to 1010 before...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Hi pablosaurush A couple of work colleagues have just bought this kit and I'm looking forward to sampling it. Out of interest how long did it take to condition? Cheers Dicko

    Yeast transplant = Good/Bad idea???

Hi badger As pirate pete said you could always add another yeast but I'd make it up as a starter so you can be sure it's active before adding it to the brew. Or, and I know it sounds daft but, you could add around another 100g of sugar in syrup form which also seems to kick it back into life...

Hi badger Have you taken a gravity reading of the stuck ferment? Cheers Dicko

    American IPA

Hi bizzo With this kit having such a high alcohol content how long did it take to condition? Cheers Dicko

    American IPA

I read up on it last night and it gets good reviews but at 8-8.5% it's a bit strong for me. Fortunately I have a couple of work colleagues who are well up for it and have already placed their order so I'll get a chance to have a taste. Cheers Dicko
