Beginner here! Fitting a tap to a fermentation bucket?

Hi all, I'm pretty much a complete beginner here. I've done a few extract kit brews, and eventually want to move on to something a bit more complicated. But first, the small stuff! The big problem I had with the brews I've done so far is bottling - attempting to syphon just seemed to get beer...

Why the hell won't my syphon work?

No, the pipe itself (sans bottling wand) is a single, simple rubber tube. I can't see any damaged areas where there might be a hole either.

Why the hell won't my syphon work?

Yeah that was my thinking - I took the wand off because I suspected it might be air getting in with the connection, but other than that it's a single piece of rubber, and I can't see any damage or evidence of holes.

Why the hell won't my syphon work?

Nope - I was limited by the length of the hose (especially when I removed the bottling wand from the end), but the FV was sat on the kitchen counter, the bottling was (supposedly, at least) being done on a chair below.

Why the hell won't my syphon work?

Hi all! So after taking advice with my first brewkit tryout, and leaving it to primary ferment for two weeks rather than the kit's recommended one, today I bottled my first batch. Trouble is, my syphon just wouldn't bloody work in the slightest. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn't budge...

First time brewing with a kit, advice please?

Hi, thanks for the responses! I actually do own a hydrometer, since it's one of the things I looted from someone else's bits of unwanted kit - however I don't have a test jar, so decided to skip that step for the time being. I also have a couple of airlocks, but the kit didn;t come with one...

First time brewing with a kit, advice please?

Hey all! I've helped out friends with brews and stuff over the years (even spent a day in a local microbrewery when a friend wanted to scale up his recipe for his wedding), but this is my first time trying it out on my own now that I actually have space for it. I got my hands on one of these...

    Hello from Manchester

Hey all! I've been wanting to get into homebrewing for a while now. A lot of my friends have been doing it for years, and I've just never had the space available, but now I do I thought I'd give it a go. Starting with extract kits and bits of brewkit scavenged from other people's unwanted...
