    WYEAST 2007 lager yeast

Very happy to finally see some action in the airlock today. Thanks, will definitely remember to do a starter next time. So is the manufactore date 6 months from the expiry Date? Because the smack pack already seemed very slow at expanding. Anyway, glad its finally fermenting, and to have...

    WYEAST 2007 lager yeast

Its been in the fermenter for about 65 hours now, and there has been no activity. Just took a gravity reading, and looks like there was no activity. Want from 1.059 to 1.058. Should I be worried? Both the smack packs were pretty slow activating, and werent even activated fully after 6-8 hours...

    WYEAST 2007 lager yeast

Looks like you had some great results with it. I didnt have any DME, so couldn't make a starter, but used two packs of the wyeast 2007. After I Brewed, I put my fermentation bucket in the fermentation fridge and put the smackpacks in there as well to make the temperature aligned (13°C), and to...

    WYEAST 2007 lager yeast

Hey, Im brewing my first lager this weekend. Havent attempted it before as it looks like a harder beerstyles in general. I bought wyeast 2007 lager and was wondering what everyones experience is with this strain. On the pack it says ferment between 9-13°C. I was thinking to start at that...

    Brewing same recipes and hops

Hey, thanks both. Just as an update I adjusted the bittering hops to match the AA I required and kept all the whirlpool/dryhop editions the same, and it was fairly similar, keg didn't last too long which is good. :) So editions at end of the boil don't seem to be affected by AA or in aroma too...

    Brewing same recipes and hops

Hey, Another newbie question. I brewed a NEIPA last year which I really enjoyed during the summer. So I want to do a rebrew of it. I would like to see how close I get to the original recipe so I bought all the hops again. I know I best adjust my IBU for bittering, but most of the hops I...

    Brett keg or bottle?

Just another Quick questions, since brett bottle conditions, is it necessary to keep it in secondary for ~6 months, or could you bottle at 6 weeks and let it conditio further? Is it just a slower proces to conditio in the bottle?

    Brett keg or bottle?

That sounds like a great idea, and it would make for a nice presentation indeed. I do live in a small London appartement tho, and dont have a lot more space to store equipment... Its an endless tetris game asad.. Any Idea of a good budget champagne corker that would't take up too much space...

    Brett keg or bottle?

Hey all, Ive got a Strong Belgian ale in the fermenter at the moment. Im fermenting it with Belgian Ale yeast. Im thinking of transferring it to secondary and add a whitelabs WLP653 Brettanomyces Lambicus and mix in some oak chips as well. And now Im wondering wether to bottle or keg the...

    Fermentation times

They might rush it because they are thirsty :). That would make sense. I usually go for mid strength beers, finishing a keg is enough work out for me let alone it being 8+ABV. So you reckon other than that (not considering dry hopping) leaving it in the fermenter much longer after...

    Fermentation times

I just finished another batch of beer, and I was wondering about fermentation times. I seem to read most people people try to ferment for a couple of weeks. But mostly I find my fermentation to be done in about 3 days with a dry yeast (like a safale us05) and maybe a day or two longer with...

    Precipitated Chalk accident

Thanks guys for the detailed and nicely dressed up responses. Very informative :). It truly quite a bit of my worries away. And as you said, when I was cleaning out my mashtun I did notice all the chalk was just clogged up in there anyway (undissolved). Do you reckon it would give off any...

    Precipitated Chalk accident

Hey, First post here, although I have been reading through this forum for a while. I did a brew today, and managed to royaly fork it up :(. I accidently dropped a pot of 50gr of precipitated chalk in my mash. I was gutted. I had prepared all the hop additions etc. beforehand, and since its...
