    All foam No fizz

Thanks for all the advice guys. Just to expand further, the dip tube was fitted correctly, and the tap snaps directly onto the keg lid, but the kegs were just left in the garage at ambient temperatures. I'm still scratching my head to my none of the co2 had been absorbed by the beer. I will into...

    All foam No fizz

I am after some advice from some experienced homebrew keggers if possible. During lockdown I purchased a couple of stainless steel mini kegs (10l) with mini gas regulators and some co2 bulbs. I made two brews up and kegged half of each and bottled the rest. When kegged I added 40g of priming...

    Conditioning

After 2 weeks, I'd put them in the fridge now personally. Could always crack one open and see if you are happy with the fizz?? (but that would be cheating)

    Conditioning

I think the yeast in that kit is an ale based yeast, so you'll want to keep the temperature above 15/16 deg c to allow the yeasties to eat your priming sugar. After a week or two you can then put them in the fridge and the beer will continue to condition just fine, and the colder temp will help...

Did you use the kit yeast?

    Conditioning

I would move them under the stairs then if thats slightly cooler, then maybe to the fridge after a week in the bottle. I have conditioned beers in the bottle at room temperature and after four weeks they have been fine so I wouldnt worry too much. You can experiment with your next brew!

    Conditioning

Depends on what yeast you have used, and on the method of carbonation. Edit: For instance, If you have primed bottles and are using an ale based yeast you may need to leave them in a warmer environment for a few days to allow the yeast to naturally carbonate the beer - thereafter you can put...

Some sellers taking the mickey with prices

I've seen a lot of this online over the past two months. Coopers kits going for £30+ which is just ridiculous. I've also seen 1kg of brewing sugar going for over a tenner!!! Luckily it seems these prices are now starting to decrease. Supply and demand I suppose.

    Time to Dry Hop

Thanks terrym, you assume correct - I might hold off for acouple of days and give it the final 5 days for dry hopping. Are there any negatives to going past a week with dry hopping? Is there any risk of spoiling the beer from excessive time dry hopping?

    Time to Dry Hop

Is there a 'time limit' on how long you should dry hop for? I have a Wilkos Hoppy Copper Bitter going into the secondary tonight, and I will be adding 70g of cascade pellets. I usually leave it the secondary for a week, will a week be too long for dry hopping? Should I wait until the last 2-3 days?

    Dry after taste

Hi Phill, What fermentables did you use? I've often found that if I just use sugar I nearly always get a dry after taste. I mainly use DME now and I never get that dry aftertaste. Simon

    Wilkinsons Artisan Lager kit

Hi, I made a batch of this early part of April with 500g of lighly hopped DME and 500g of extra light DME. I used the Wilko Gervin ale yeast and let it sit in the FV for three weeks before giving it a week in the secondary (SG 1051 FG 1011). Tried the first bottle at the weekend to see how it...

    Festival New Zealand Pilsner

Hi Matt, The brew enhancer is used as your addtional fermentables when making up the kit - I'm not familiar with this specific kit, but most will tell you to add approx. 1kg of sugar (If it is a 1 can kit) - the enhancer should replace the 1kg of sugar, or at least most of it.. You can add...
