What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Rightly or wrongly I have gone mad for St Peter's Ruby. Neighbours come round into Garage on a Friday and they can't get enough of it I've done v good Admirals Reserve , Nelson's Reserve and of course Wherry sometimes "pimped". Done Muntona Old English Bitter also great But St Peter's Ruby...

    Kit beer

What a complete numpty (I am) 50 years I've been doing Kits mainly St Peter's Ruby at the moment. I am always up early and get brewed as early as possible doing almost the same as you Boil kettle , pour Cans into FV then pour Kettle into one can till nearly full. Stir with plastic spoon to...

    St Peter's Ruby kit

Yes , I guess it would but I added a second yeast simply because my temp control is poor . 18 this morning in my "go to" Room and been up to 20c this afternoon Now on day 10 and did my airlock "trick" to prove ferm still underway and it was. Repeat each day till finished or I reach day 14...

    Back brewing after 15 years

I've done lots of Wherry kits over last few years and the activity after 4 or 5 days subsides often looking "stuck" and you may think nothing is happening Learning from advice and comments on here I will always let the fermentation go on for 2 weeks at which stage you would need to sit watching...

Brewing Mate Home Brew Heat Pad reviews ?

Hi To be fair I used a simple description , when saying "built in Temp control". From what I have read all that meant was I would set it going at a certain spot on the dial and leave a day or so watching for any variation in the Temp of FV contents Then adjust the dial for more or less Temp...

Brewing Mate Home Brew Heat Pad reviews ?

Thinking of getting one of these as my Temp control is hit and miss and would like to standardise it over cold months. Seen one on Amazon with 66% 5 stars but wondering if anyone has one on here. Has a built in Temp control which people say works and for £25 ish could be the solution for me...

    St Peter's Ruby kit

Yeast . Have had reply from Munton's that this kit is supplied with 1 sachet of yeast only However even after 50 years I still learn lots of things on here and before I got Munton's answer I added a second 6g Sachet I keep in reserve So can anybody tell me what that is likely to do to the...

    Kits I Wouldn't Brew Again

I agree . I don't know if I did this correctly but should have reduced the Hops as it was far too bitter for me I realised how bad it was when in Newport I went to Tiny Rebels Tap and had a couple of CWTCH and they were great

    Kits I Wouldn't Brew Again

I wouldn't buy TT again. It's not Red and in fact paler than Wherry I'm trying a St Peter's Ruby now having done it twice before and remembered it was reddish and tasted ok Hopefully it will be my go to , but will still do an odd other kit looking for a Barnsley Bitter alike

    St Peter's Ruby kit

Does this only come with 1 yeast now please. I'm presuming yes If so is it wise to but another to ensure " no stuck " fermentation If yes what Yeast would be recommended please to match the sachet in the kit which is as usual a Premium EU made yeast Many thanks wp

    Kits I Wouldn't Brew Again

Tinsel Toes still not Red . So far had 3 small 1/3 glasses of it and not struck on taste of it but time may enhance colour and taste , though it didn't with the CWTCH mentioned above

    Tinsel Toes & Hop Pellets

Finished secondary ferm of the Tinsel Toes (still no answer on average o.g.) and it has cleared enough in 3 days to try some and taste is ok and will improve Just the colour is supposed to be Red though but will this evolve as the weeks go on as its not even as dark as a Wherry would be at this...

    Woodfordes Nelson Bitter

Hi Matt My airlocks were called mega and maybe mini but that exact one wouldn't matter. Simply equalise the pressure by pressing FV lid and then watch in 12 hours for "movement" to show fermentation still underway. Good luck with the pour later. I was shocked when neighbour just virtually...

    Woodfordes Nelson Bitter

Hi Matt I ve only bottled once in the last 40 odd years for a neighbours 70th Birthday recently. I did an Admirals Reserve and well in advance. I got another neighbour to share first bottle when it was well matured but was really disappointed when I poured it out although it looked great...

    Woodfordes Nelson Bitter

Long time since but how did it go I would have said " I swirl the FV without opening it" , and for me that usually has done the trick
