    Electric BIAB upgrade

Haha, hope the newly evolved Summer Breeze goes well! What's gone into the new version? Yes will do, them tiny details will hopefully make a massive difference!

    Electric BIAB upgrade

That's spot on - its exactly what I wanted. Obviously the 55% efficiency is quite striking and not what I wanted (!). My recent upgrade has been converting a drinks cooler to a mash tun which has helped massively with temp. control, but as it was my first time using it yesterday. I probably...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Hi mate, Sorry its been a while - I have had a few system upgrades I have been doing the last couple of months. I put a mosaic/cascade based IPA on today using mainly marris otter, vienna and cara malt. I recorded all the numbers from your previous message... Started mash with 14L of water @...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Brilliant. Thank you very much - I will look at getting a smaller brew on this weekend and have a go at noting these numbers down and get back to you. It would be good to get my head round it all. Thanks for your help. Hope the brown ale has come out well!

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Great stuff cheers, I thought it would. Have a good brew day. Just another thing to ask whilst I remember. When making your own recipe, is there any particular method/formula you follow to finalise quantities of grain, hops etc? I have made a couple of my own before which have turned out quite...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Great idea with veg bag. We got a 35cm hop spider which sits really nicely over the side of our kettle through the boil. Worth a look if you're wanting a change, but sounds like the aldi veg bag works a treat. Yeah sure I will keep looking too and let you know of any updates.

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Top stuff. I can't imagine there would be much/if any difference in temperature through the grain bed to be honest! I reckon a decent pump would be the way forward for my system. Summer breeze looks spot on, is it your own recipe? Do you keg yours? The head on it looks great!

First AG brew, missed pre-boil gravity by 24 points

3 minutes does seem pretty quick! But you've done right maintaining the inch above the grain bed, thats spot on. I usually vorlauf first (4-5L) then get into sparging. Next time aim to decrease the rate the wort is exiting your mash tun. Slow it all down, and maintain that inch above your...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Looks like we have pretty similar set ups. How is the klarstein fullhorn for you? I've seen it has good reviews. Ours is a OneConcept 30L electric kettle with a fitted bazooka filter. Only problem we have is the temperature control - thermostat isn't too accurate so it can be a pain keeping the...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Your setup looks really smart! The pump looks like it works great - does it keep the temperature equal throughout the column of the kettle well? The plate on top looks handy too, great for hopstand. Do you use the pump and whirlpool effect when mashing? I think I am leaning towards a pump to...

    Electric BIAB upgrade

Now then brewers, Hope you're all well. Just looking for some help with upgrading my electric BIAB system... I currently use a 30L electric kettle for my mash/boil, 1 x 20L cooler to hold sparge water, 1 x 25L plastic fermenting bucket. With this system, I'm currently making decent beers at...

Have a go at simple AG

Great idea is this! Have a go if you are wanting to try with AG. I went straight into the deep end and never tried extract brewing. Highly recommend starting out simple and nailing the basics.

    Alcohol content control

Now then, Hope you're all keeping well in this second lockdown. I have been brewing using electric BIAB on a 5gl scale for around 7 months now. All our brews have been spot on when reading gravity - all readings were as expected - but our testing equipment is quite basic. It is just a trial...

    Wort chiller

Cheers for that! What diameter was your piping out of interest?

    Wort chiller

I'm looking to make a copper immersion chiller, using some cooper piping/coil. Does anyone know what measurements - i.e. diameter and length - I will need to chill 5 gallons? And which fittings I will need to connect one end to the hose tap? Cheers for your help, and make sure you all keep well, H

    Brewery Expansion help

Cheers for that mate, the mash kettle looks good. Have you had any issues with it or has it been all good?

    Brewery Expansion help

Cheers for that. This isn't something I even knew existed so I'll get on with reading up on it. Definitely seems a good way of brewing good size batches with minimal cost! Like you say, its a good idea to invest a little more now as it will be better in the long run. Do you have any links for...

    Brewery Expansion help

That looks great. I can see what you mean about the grain basket being too small, I have read/watched a lot of others' experience with mash kettles in general which say the same thing. Haha, a boil over is something none of us want! Will make sure to invest in a couple of thermometers. Do you...

    Brewery Expansion help

Hi mate! We would be willing to spend around £200 to upgrade in total. The long-term goal is to produce consistently good beer and have an enjoyable hobby! I think we would be comfortable with a 5 gallon batch, then potentially expand to 10 gallons if we would like to in the future. I myself am...
