    Brewing kits short

Got to make sure you'll enjoy the beer before brewing that much!

    Brewing kits short

Yes - I've already found brewing a single can kit to the full 40 pints doesn't provide much body. I've tried adding 500g of spraymalt but it doesn't seem enough (along with the 500g of brewing sugar). I'm guessing (along with the sugar) I'll need 1kg of spraymalt added to a one can kit. Either...

Two can kits are better @kelper but most kits are only one can unfortunately. @terrym why would you avoid extra LME? Would LME add extra flavour? Thanks for your input everyone.

    Brewing kits short

Hello I have brewed a number of single-can bitter and mild kits to the full 40 pints / 22 litres. However, I find them lacking flavour and body. I use 500g of spray malt and 500g of brewing sugar for fermenting. Once fermented i bottle, priming first with fermentation drops. To increase...

    Youngs Beer Heading Liquid

Perhaps i could try conditioning longer, although I've left some bottled for a month and still haven't got a reasonable head on the glass. Also, i have never tried batch priming. Would a pressure vessel be required for batch priming? Thanks for your input everyone!

    Youngs Beer Heading Liquid

Hello everyone I'm struggling to get a decent head on my pints of homebrew. I have therefore purchased some Youngs Heading Liquid to add to the fermenting beer. The instructions say to add to the beer and stir in prior to bottling. However, if i do this , it will stir up the sediment in the...

    Opening fermentation vessel

Thanks for your replies everyone. As I'm new to this wonderful hobby, i did wonder how the lid on a FV could be removed temporarily without introducing bacteria. Now i know!

    Opening fermentation vessel

This may sound very silly, but how safe is the fermenting beer in a fermentation bucket when the lid is temporarily opened? I always thought that fermenting beer in the vessel was susceptible to bacteria in the air - hence the need for the lid and bubbling air lock filled with water...

    Yorkshire bitter kits

Hello everyone I'm new to home brewing (this is my first post) and have completed a couple of brew kits. I see a number of kits sold as 'Yorkshire' bitter. Can anyone tell me what are the characteristics of Yorkshire bitter (apart from originating from Yorkshire)? How does Yorkshire bitter...
