Got strawberries, what to use with them for wine?

I have made strawberry wine with some cheap supermarket - on the cusp ones. To make them up to sufficient quantity I have added some overripe nectarines I have got at the same time. Turned out wonderfully aromatic with hint of strawberry - however with strawberries being so delicate the wine...

    Blackberry wine redemption?

My BlackBerry and BB+elderberry wine from august last year is still sitting in the hall in brown demijohns wrapped in bin bags after last racking and clearing (coldest and darkest part of the house). I have bottled couple of the demijohns of it about a month ago leaving the rest to just sit and...

    Rhubarb rhubarb

Started my first rhubarb wine for this year. Been picking and freezing from early summer and finally got round to making it. 11l demijohn. about 3kg+ rhubarb cut up and frozen (did not weigh it but had to use two 5l buckets for getting the juice out with sugar) 3kg sugar 4 brown bananas 2l Apple...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

I have used green tea now in all my whites and it I am now using green tea in all my whites, it leaves it nice and pale and gives enough tannin and is a bit mellower then black tea. I did ad 150g more sugar than usual - I think it was towards 900g - depends how many tins you used :) - I did...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

I made lovely white using either pears in grape juice or peach halves in grape juice (tinned) - easier to get hold of :) Lidl do big tins of peach halves in grape juice.

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

My in-laws asked for another batch :). I really like it, it gets better after couple of weeks in bottle. I have just finished one I made in august and it was even better - it is an early drinker but couple of weeks make difference. I would compare it to a nice table rose when chilled. As...

    BlackBerry abundance

It’s absolutely wonderful! About 70 percent blackberry to 30 elder, but done some straight blackberry and also blackberry and blackcurrant ... all great and all lovely reds. Had so many blackberries this year.. but did not bother with jam..... who wants jam :)

    BlackBerry abundance

I did not bother this time... have done every other racking but not this time. I don’t recon it’s going to hang around long :) I did bother with rhubarb one as that one is going to be stored for a while but this one is good now so will probably not make it into the new year...

    BlackBerry abundance

Few more demijohns in different ratios of blackberry and elder and blackcurrant being left alone... as don’t have any suitable bottles yet :)

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

I hoped that I would have brewed enough during summer months :) but I have now only country wines left ageing in bottles and demis (and don’t want to touch those till next year) so I do have to start with some wows again :) glad to hear bubble wrap method works. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Cooking Wine

Oh just a note. Leave the pineapple for few weeks after bottling :) same with any supermarket juice wines - they are early drinkers but absolutely benefit with few weeks in bottle :)

    Cooking Wine

Pineapple juice - cheapest is Aldi (59p) per litre of 100%juice. Or Lidl pineapple is good also (I have downloaded app for Lidl plus and it gives 5off 25 plus 25pecent of juice...) I would go with beaverdale kits - not much more than cheaper ones but much better- all juice and no extra sugar...

    Cooking Wine

When I started making wine I got starter kit from bigger jugs that consisted of all the necessary items and two 5l bucket including 6bottle kit :) - and then got few demijohns as well for the supermarket juice wines. The buckets are now used for primary fermentation of fruit in straining bag and...

    Cooking Wine

With red kits I would recommend beaverdale - Nebbiolo is rather nice or the merlot. It’s about £12 for 6bottle kit so not too much more then cheaper ones round £10 but definitely better taste :)
