    Woodforde Admiral Reserve

Right, it's been a month and a half since it was barreled. I've just poured a glass out, very clear, much like a Speckled Hen in appearance. Very good head. Now, let's taste. Mmmmm, very nice, yeah, I like it. Hard to say what I compare it to at the moment. I finishes off very well with a...

Beginner. Pressure barrel not keeping pressure

As he said he 'had to let air in', I took that to mean there wasn't an air leak as such.

Beginner. Pressure barrel not keeping pressure

You shouldn't let air in to get the beer out, surprised no one mentioned that you should be filling the barrel with Co2 when the beer doesn't flow.

    Gravity after secondary fermentation

Just a quick one about the gravity readings. I've just out of interest checked the gravity of a pint from a barrel which is near the end, it reads 1006. Just before barreling it was 1012, before pitching the yeast it was 1042. So, should I really be noting the secondary fermentation reading as...

    St Peter's Honey Porter

Coincidence that I should see this, as I've just started one of these today.

    Campden Tablets

Thanks. I guess I was just worried that the water might need to sit for a while to work, just in case of affecting the brew or the tablet affecting the yeast.

How to clean your beer glass

I put mine in the dishwasher, they come out perfectly squeaky clean giving me a lovely beer.

    Cleaning bottles

I've been rinsing some bottles out, ready for sterilising when I do another brew, will be my first bottling, only going to bottle a few. Never thought of putting them in the dishwasher as wasn't sure the water jets would fire right into the bottle really.

    Corny keg

Interesting, a few things to think of then, at the moment I'm not entirely sure they're really suited for ale.

    Corny keg

I currently use pressure barrels and wondered about a corny keg, nearly bought one then wondered from what I read if they're more for carbonating the drink as you dispense it rather than say an ale which isn't carbonated.

    Campden Tablets

    OK thanks chaps.

    Corny keg

So is a corny more suitable for lager rather than ale?
