Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Yes that’s what I’m trying to show in those photos. If you look into the hole where the threaded pin goes, I think there is a hole into the gas “pipe”. So gas is bypassing the o-rings. Ill see what Kegland say, but because I bought it from an ebayer I doubt they’ll do anything.

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

That’s a good question. Looking very closely at the “inside chamber” reveals this at the back. I presume it’s not meant to be there? It looks like there is a hole through to the “pipe” that connects the two ends of the adapter.

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Seems like Kegland don't know why this is happening, but they've asked for a photo of the internal pin and o-rings. Here they are for your viewing pleasure - anyone see anything wrong? Looks ok to my untrained eye.

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

I initially has the cylinder up-right, same issue. Had to lay it flat to record :) The box was labelled with the SKU for the UK version. The nylon washer is in the MK4 stem. Regulator is turned off. My intention was to use the sodastream as an intro to CO2 before graduating to a "real" cylinder.

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

There is an internal “valve” or “pin” which has two o-rings on it. Both are present and it seems a reasonably tight fit. Here is the part at Kegland: Replacement pin with o-rings - Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Kegland asked for a video. Thought I’d share it here in case you folk have any clever ideas.

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Unfortunately bought from a random seller on eBay, but I've emailed Kegland to see if they have any ideas. Seems a shame if it even leaks a little bit - that's the whole point of this "deluxe" adapter. I'm considering just PTFEing the pin and winding it in fully and essentially making it like...

Issue with Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter

Taking my first foray into CO2. I've got a Kegland Deluxe Sodastream Cylinder Adapter and their MK4 regulator. I bought the adapter from eBay but it is meant to be new (and looks unused). https://www.kegland.com.au/products/deluxe-sodastream-cylinder-adapter-with-pin-adjustment The Sodastream...

@chopps will you be offering mixed cans, rather than just 6 of the same? I'd like to try the whole range...

    Bottling from Fermzilla All Rounder

Great. Thanks for the feedback. The iTap looks pricey. I've just discovered the Fermenter King Junior which looks like it will fit better in my fridge. I only do < 20L batches, so this might suit. Is this a decent alternative?

    Bottling from Fermzilla All Rounder

Thanks for the video. Yes I was thinking a proper bottling gun would be needed. I presume I'll need a CO2 bottle too. Would a soda-stream bottle work? I don't think I'd get through an entire big bottle of CO2 very quickly just using it for bottle filling.

    Bottling from Fermzilla All Rounder

I'm considering purchasing a Fermzilla All Rounder. Can you use this to carbonate beer and then bottle directly? Currently I ferment in a plastic bucket, then bottle using a bottling wand and then carbonate using bottle conditioning with sugar. I'd like to upgrade the bucket to something more...

I've watched all your videos @chopps. I think they're great. I've really enjoyed seeing the process of setting up and starting the brewery. I've only been brewing all-grain since the end of last summer, so I'm still new to this whole thing - but it's great seeing how the processes I do in my...

    Mungoswells grain

I haven't used them, so can't answer your question. But how do you go about ordering? Their website only has flour listed as far as I can see.

    “Conditioning: 4 weeks at 12C”

It was ok, but I ruined it by over-carbonating. It's definitely not as roasty or dark as I thought it would be. It looks black in the glass, but held up to light its more dark brown. It's drinkable, but I'm not sure if I'd make it again.

    Gushing!

Thanks to all for the comments. This is all very helpful and I really appreciate the assistance :-) My plan for my current batch is to bottle directly from the fermenter using a very well cleaned and sanitised bottling wand. I hope this should reduce possible causes of infection from the...

    Gushing!

Oxi cleaner purchased. I’ll use it on the bottles before i sanitise them. Jewellery scales arriving today. I’ll use them for measuring per bottle sugar. I’m having difficulty with this - I find a lot of conflicting information. My Verdant IPA which I’m about to bottle was fermented at 19C...
