When adding a hop tea to the brew, when is the best time to add it? At the start when you add the yeast or a bit later on?

I was gonna start a batch of Coopers stout, but have ran out of DME, but I have a bag of LME. Will this be ok for a stout, or will it have to be dark?

£6.00 is very good for 1kg of DME. At my lhs its about £6.00 for 500 grms!

Noddyman, just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for your DME?

Yeah noticed the elderberries aren't quite ready yet. Not sure about damsons, are they found in similar places?

I've just gone out & picked just under 5 lbs of blackberrys. I have just rinsed them & put them in the freezer. Are they OK to freeze? I am planning on picking some elderberries to add to the brew.

Hi Wigwamheed, i too have had the privelage of trying this stout. I live in Durham so will defo be going back! Infact, it was after sampling this stout that got me back into homebrewing. I love Coopers stout, & was thinking of how to add chilli without ruining the brew. Maybe the boiling method...

Cant go wrong with Coopers mate, but i am interested to hear other views.

Right then chaps, i`ve been after doing a pilsner for a while so this will be my next brew. ( Mereside, love your pics! ) So, what would everyone recommend brewing this with? I`ve never used hops before, but was gonna probably use LME or dextrose. Recommendations please!

Scott, is that 1week in warm & 1week in cold?

I kegged my stout almost a week ago. It is sitting in the kitchen where it was brewed. Is it best to leave a bit longer there & then somewhere cooler like the garage?

Kyle, what did you add to it to get it up to 8%?
