No Joey, I'm not. It's a bit of plastic pipe that I have seen in use (you tube vids) approx 15 or 16mm bore stuck on the bottom of the tap, long enough to reach the bottom of the glass.
Could it be to reduce the size of the head on the beer as it's poured?
Sorry Rob, forgive me for not being clear, that was my fault. I meant to say that the pipe is fitted to the bottom of the tap on the exterior of the keg, seemingly reaching the bottom of the glass to be filled.
My apologies indeed........
I did this kit at the end of summer this year.
Basically it was easy enough to do and the instructions were easy enough to follow and understand. It actually took about 5 weeks to ferment out before adding finings and stabiliser.......... then the bugger started again and continued for a...
I have the old but working aquarium heater from our fish tank. It was replaced because at 100w, it wasn't quite "man enough" for our 80 litre tank.
I am considering dropping it (cleaned and sterile) into my FV which has the smugglers ale in. My question being, this being the seventh day of...
Today I decided to have a crack at some wow, seeing as I had two DJs doing nowt, I went for two gallons and I've added a cinnamon stick also. An hour after making it, the heads are beginning to build and there is increasing action in the air locks.
I am about to make some wow (1 gallon), the wine yeast sachet is 5g. Do I bung the lot in or just half, I also have yeast nutrient to add (1 teaspoon) I think.
Thanks, Jon.
My last brew of wherry has kept its head in the glass down to the last half inch or so. I hope I'm as lucky with the batch of wherry I'm currently conditioning.
BTW PD, a very informative thread.
I have a black cherry wine still quite active a week after adding finings and stabiliser and it's as clear as a bell. Today I moved it to my workshop and sat the demijohn on a piece of cold steel plate and within an hour the liquid in the arlock had levelled so I'm hoping to leave it there a...
Today after doing the usual sunday chores I successfully "negotiated" with the Ayathollah for a bit of kitchen worktop thus giving me the opportunity to start my Smugglers ale.
This is my first Muntons kit and all went well, I've brewed it only a couple of pints short of 40 and my starting...
Before I do my Muntons Smugglers in the next week or so, I would like to pose this question about water preferences.
Are there any obvious advantages to using bottled water rather than tap water for your beer?. I am aware of the differences in water quality (hard/soft) depending on different...
I'm halfway down the keg with my first wherry kit, beautiful clear brew, not overpowering and satisfyingly tasty, a right one for quaffing. My second batch will be ready in approximately four weeks maybe a little sooner as it's in a top tap keg.
Good evening everybody, my name is Jon and I'm Derbyshire born and bred :hat:
I made an initial return to home brew last year after a break of approximately 20 years (back then most of my brews were quite yeasty with a dry bite and I used to proclaim through gritted teeth how good they were...
