Strange after taste from a rose

I have recently bottle two 30 bottle kits, one a rose from wilkos and the other a californian white zinfndel and both of them have an unusual after taste. I would say that the taste is a little like sherbet is the closest thing i can think of, its almost a slightly chemical taste but it might...

    CALIFORNIA CONNOISSEUR WHITE ZINFANDEL

I have one of these kits and i was just wondering how other people have found it after 6 months, the instructions claim that you have to add Potassium Metabisulphite but you do add a sachet of this to the wine as its part of the kit. Any other comments you would like to add to your posts are...

    Wine in a keg

Is it possible to do this? The reason why i am asking is that 95% of the wine that we will be drinking is rose which doesn't take that long to age and certainly doesn't take long to drink with the wife around :wha: Its just a bit of a bore having to prep everything and syphon it into bottles...

    Beer finings

I have only ever used this stuff a few times with beer but i have a stout thats about to go into a keg and i would like to add some finnings to it. What i need to know is when to add the finnings, is it a case of adding it to the fermenter now or adding it to the keg when syphoning commences?

    Is this a good cleaner/steriliser?

We have some of this in at work and i was eying it up for a cleaner/steriliser for all of my brewing equipment. http://www.newlineltd.co.uk/acatalog/Ti ... r_394.html Cheap aswell compared to buying wilkos steriliser or VWP.

    Sweetening wine

I plan on back sweetening a rose with splenda but i am unsure of how to add it, i am aware of how to acquire the desired level of sweetness but i don't know when its best to add it. At the moment the rose has fermented in a bin and it is now under air lock in a FV, it is clearing as we speak so...

    Suitable container

I have order myself a couple of the classic coconut rum kits, i just love coconut rum so i could resist but i do not have any demijohns and i would prefer to do both of the kits at the same time so i was hoping i would be able to use an empty one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Latis-Water-Bot...

    Stopping a fermentation

I have had a wilko rose kit on the go for 2 weeks now which was a little slow to get going but i have taken a reading and it looks to me that it is 1012 which indicates a medium wine. One issue is that i never took a reading at the start so i am unsure of its alcoholic strength but the wife is...

Most convenient way to sterilize just a stirring spoon

I have no issues sterilizing one of these at the start as it goes into the bin when that gets cleaned but its a real pain due to its size to just sterilize on its own, does anyone have any quick and easy way of sterilizing just the spoon by itself.

    Bad news

I have had my first batch of vino on the go for a week now, i have had it in the house for about half that time and the rest has been in the garage inside a plastic bin and covered with a few fleecy coats. I though it was time to take a reading to see how well it is or isn't doing and it looks...

    Temperature control

I am attempting my first batch of wine (a rose) at home and due to not having the space in the house for it i was forced to place it inside the garage. After one day in the garage i felt that it was too cold and so i have brought it into the kitchen to warm up and its looking like i caught it in...
