    First BIAB, dry hop?

Snap! I did the same recipe exactly and it's been in the FV for 11 days, seems clear, and tastes superb...I'm not dry hopping as it tastes bang on the money. First AG, BIAB, and very happy.

What to do for a quick brew?

    The one which costs more.

All set for BIAB, but no wort chiller.

My no chill cube arrived today, 25l, for only £6.89 delivered. Gonna brew up this weekend, first AG brew! Hopefully my temporary glutein intolerance clears up by the time the beer is ready.... :/

All set for BIAB, but no wort chiller.

That's been debunked...especially as oxygen in the wort is desirable. http://forum.northernbrewer.com/viewtop ... 5&t=107842 I'll still get a silicon tube to transfer it, but only because I don't want to splash hot sugary liquid on myself!

    This says otherwise. http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/view ... 7&start=15

All set for BIAB, but no wort chiller.

If I had a spare freezer I'd use frozen pop bottles I guess, but there's no capacity in our fridge freezer to freeze nothing. Are these jerry cans okay? I read that 23 litres will fit in a 20 litre one? http://www.ampulla.co.uk/Shop-For-Plast ... 0-112-450/

That looks good, what sort of shop sells them?

All set for BIAB, but no wort chiller.

After 18 months of kits, I've got a 50l pot from The Malt Miller, with tap and hop filter. Got a thermometer too which I had fun with testing the wok ring on the hob's power...will get the water up to strike temp in around 35 minutes. I've a voile net curtain to use as the bag. Next I got the...

Bottling after being kept in Keg

I'm amazed you haven't tried a pint or two from the keg yet. The standard procedure is to keep 'testing' it every evening to 'check' it's all okay. You'll know after the 34th pint whether it is or not. I always put the final six or seven pints from a keg into bottles. Maybe quarter tsp of sugar...

    Bottling nightmare- a question

    Exactly what I do!

Can I bottle after beer is primed & conditioned in a keg?

See above, the ale is 'live' so bung in half a tsp of sugar in the bottle and leave for a few weeks.

    Did Thatcher ruin British Brewing?

The smoking ban in pubs is often cited as being a 'European' thing, yet in the Belgian belly of the beast, smoking is still allowed in their pubs (as well as gambling).

How long does crushed malt stay fresh for?

    Ok, thanks for the info!

How long does crushed malt stay fresh for?

Let's assume in an airtight bin or something...which doesn't give off plastic smells. Surely freshly crushed grain makes better beer than grain crushed months ago?

How long does crushed malt stay fresh for?

Really? That's surprisingly long. Would beer made from freshly crushed malt taste a whole lot better than some from a sack in a home brew shop? At what age does the taste benefit of crushed grain equal that of canned malt extract/kits?

How long does crushed malt stay fresh for?

As anyone who grinds coffee beans knows, after a few days the ground coffee is not fresh. Is it the same for malted barley? If I bought 25kg of crushed malt would it be stale already?
