Hi i have just racked my WOW off. As this is my first time I haven't managed to get as much out as I would have liked. There is quite a bit of space above the liquid in the second DJ. Is this likely to be a problem? How much should I fill it up? I plan to backsweeten in a few days as...

Anyone done one of these?

Thanks. I have racked it into a clean DJ but there's still a bit of action in the airlock. Should I wait for fermentation to finish before putting in a campden?

Hi I'm brewing a turbo cider which is due to be bottled tomorrow. I have just noticed white mold in the neck of the demijohn. It's not on the cider, just the neck. Is it ruined or rescuable? Thanks

I pop in most days to mine to look for sales but so far nothing. I try to use my LHBS even if it's couple of quid cheaper because of the advice the guy gives.

Not gone in mine but the selection has reduced. Looks like they may be phasing it out. It also moved in the store so check it's not on the end of an aisle or something.....

Well that was easier than I thought. Just tipped it up and a little bit of the bung stuck over the rim so was able to pull it out :thumb:

This is embarrassing. :oops: Making my first ever turbo cider and managed to push the bung into the demijohn :doh: I had another one so bunged it but will the rubber bung affect favour? Do I have to start again? Any tips for getting a bung out of a demijohn? :lol:

A quick update on my progress: Did my first batch on Thursday morning. Temperature in the FV was a bit higher than I wanted (28) but by lunchtime it had cooled to 26/28 on my thermometer. By evening there was quite a lot of what I could describe as caramel coloured silt as the bottom of the FV...

Can anyone recommend a good brewing book to read while I am waiting? There are quite a few in my local library. Thanks Edit: never mind just found 'How to Brew' in the beer brewing books section :oops:

Went for the Coopers Microbrew Starter Kit 40 Pint Starter Kit from the Homebrew Company. Hope I have chosen wisely!
