    AG#11 SNPA the 3rd

Hi, tried this at the weekend and its good, has a slightly less tart taste to it than Leffe but similar to it, would deffo use this yeast again, seemed to be a cleaner yeast than the wlp001 that i normally use for the SNPA clone. Amazed at how just changing the yeast can produce two totally...

    AG#11 SNPA the 3rd

Going to give it another week then I will give it a taste, tasted and smelled a bit like Leffe when I took my FG, with a good hop whack at the end.

I love this brew too, put my fith on on Sat, used wlp500 in my last just to see what difference it makes to the taste.

Hi guys, didnt want to start a new post so will just keep adding to this one. AG#3 has been a success  despite having problems with my power tripping out whilst I was mid brew. Have stuck to my original grain bill and yeast and its turned out good again like my first AG brew, hope to get...

Thanks for the tip, going to give everything a good sterilizing before the next one, normally use wvp before and after a brewday to clean everything, didnt do my mash tun and boiler last time though as I thought any nasties would be killed off in the boil :hmm:

Yep, think your right! going to slow it down for the next one and try not to change too many things at once like I did with this one. :thumb:

Smelled like vinegar, it fermented more aggressively than my first batch with flocks of yeast flying around the fv.

AG number 2 died and went down the plug hole :( Think I must have dropped a clanger with the top cropped yeast, going to try again this week with some fresh wlp001 and hope for a better result. Was a bit disappointed after having such a good result with AG number 1.

Krausen after 24hrs, seems to have more break material than last time, could this be due to a more vigourus boil? used yeast which I top cropped from my last brew.

90 min mash 60 min boil, just under an hour to crash chill. think i have pulled back alot of time by adding another element to my boiler.

Upgraded my boiler and put another SNPA clone on today, no pictures as I was happy to just crack on with the brew :D got my brew time down to around 4hrs from start to pitching yeast. still ended up 2ltrs short though :hmm: even after adding an extra 2ltrs to my HLT.

Agree with you about brewing styles that are not available, I think that was one of the reasons I decided to give home brewing a go, wanted to make the beers I like to drink instead of the stuff they serve up in my local. Want to try this one but dont understand why it gives both malted and...

Lol, I am hoping to get another brew or two done over Christmas after I have upgraded my boiler and HLT. Need to start using up the 26 kilo of malt I just had delivered :D going to do another SNPA clone then looking for recipies for a single infusion Tripel.

Coopers Irish Stout stuck at 1020.

Just sprinkled the yeast on top, didnt hydrate it. would it have been better to rehydrate?

Think you might be right, if I do this kit again I think I will bin the packet of yeast and try a different one.

Nearly threw this brew down the drain a few weeks ago but decided to bottle it, have just opened a bottle and it seems to have transformed into a good brew! its carbing up nicely and has liquorish aftertaste to it. :thumb:

Bottled today, might have been better if I had left it a few more days to clear but I did'nt want to lose any aroma so bottled. FG was 1006- 1008 and is my best beer so far, I am gobsmacked with it! cant wait to get stuck into it.
