    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

I'd say a minimum of 2 weeks in the warm followed by a further 2 weeks in a cooler temperature such as a shed. As you said its your first brew but I've found it's all about patience. I personally aim for at least 2-3 months before drinking as you find that the taste improves with time. When you...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

After my initial disappointment in the taste of this beer I think I may have found a way of improving it. It simply requires leaving in the fridge for a day or two before drinking as the taste was far superior to the bottles I had previously drank straight from the shed. I still wouldn't...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Mine has been in the bottle around a month and exactly as the poster above said is incredibly strong but not as hoppy as hoped. Disappointing really as the fermentation smelt incredible and tasters along the way had the hoppy taste I was looking for. I guess I'm going to leave this a few more...

Let my beer in the FV for erm... waaaaaayyyyy too long. Whatdo?

Due to a bereavement of a close family member I had a beer in my FV for just over 7 weeks a few months ago that I hadn't got round to kegging. I was about to bin the lot but thought what the hell i'll do it anyway and to my surprise it turned out rather well. Give it a go before you throw...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Bottled mine today, coming in with an abv of 6.8-6.9. The smell & taste even at this stage was incredible. Really looking forward to drinking this one :-)

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Just done the first hydrometer test after 18 days in the FV & it's reading 1.010 which means with my OG of 1.060 it is coming in at a lower than expected 6.56abv.....trial jar had a nice taste tho! I was hoping to add the hops today & bottle on Sunday but I'll check again tomorrow to see if...

First brew! Bottling...how many maxale priming drops?

I felt exactly the same & after a month of being bottled I was tasting 1 bottle per week until I felt happy with the quality. All the best with it though :-)

First brew! Bottling...how many maxale priming drops?

Like yourself my first brew that I did last year was a Wherry and whilst its very tempting to crack them open early on I personally recommend sticking them to the back of your shed for at least 6-8 weeks after bottling before trying. This gives you chance to get a second brew on the go so that...

    Kegging for the first time....Question

Thanks guys ;) Due to a family bereavement my lastest brew has been sat in the fermenting bucket for just over 6 weeks so I thought i'd invest in a cheap keg from the Wilko sale to try and rescue it this weekend.....Seems like this cheap barrel isn't going to work out that cheap with a further

    Kegging for the first time....Question

A quick question.....This will be the first time i've used the keg method (usually bottle but dont have time with this one) and I was wondering if the ale (Milestone Dark Galleon) would be ok in the pressure barrel if I simply batch prime with brewing sugar? Since I bought the barrel i've...

    Wilko Sale

I picked up a pressure barrel in the sale as I have a kit thats well overdue to be bottled/kegged. A quick question.....This will be the first time i've used the keg method (usually bottle but dont have time with this one) and I was wondering if the ale (Milestone Dark Galleon) would be ok in...

    Milestone Dark galleon.

Tried this in the pub over Xmas so bought a kit and started last Wednesday. Within 24hrs the fermentation was probably the best that I have seen from any of the 5 kits i've done so far :thumb: 5 days later the bubbling in the airlock has slowed down somewhat, perhaps due to temperature of where...

Wilko Syphon for racking to a bottling bucket - is tap OK?

I have a Wilko syphon and they are peferctly fine for that purpose. When syphoning on to the sugar solution I hold the tap end a few inches above it and swish the tap end around to ensure the solution mixes.
