    1st pressure barrel brew

Doesn't look too bad but I guess that the slightest lack of seal will lose pressure. I would restore it with boiling water and replace with a smear of vaseline. Good luck!

    1st pressure barrel brew

You've probably overtightened the cap and distorted the white o-ring/washer, a mistake that I have also made in the past. I have a Wherry in a Wilko barrel currently on which I purposely tightened the cap much less than usual; the result has been zero loss of pressure compared to previous...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

Just finished drinking this and I will definitely be making this one again. A very tasty pint and great colour and clarity. Mine came out at just over 4%.

    Muntons IPA

I've just started drinking this after just over 4 weeks conditioning in the shed. I made it with 500g of sugar which is half way between 'Troops Tipple' and 'Officers Reserve'; final strength came out at 5.6%. I also had my first experiment with dry hopping, 50g of East Kent Goldings for 5 days...

    Giving blood

I gave my 39th donation last week. I would encourage anyone that is eligible to sign up, it's virtually painless (the 'prick' in the finger to test for anaemia is the worst bit!) You also come away with the feeling that you have genuinely done something to help others who are less fortunate...

Wilko pressure barrel - fitting S30 valve to cap?

I actually need the valve as well but thanks for the link, the prices (and delivery charges) look good. I'll see what my little local home brew shop have to offer first but it looks like a good site. Adapting the existing cap looks like a non-starter.

Wilko pressure barrel - fitting S30 valve to cap?

That sounds like a good price, did you buy it online?

Wilko pressure barrel - fitting S30 valve to cap?

Mmm, not sure. The recess is certainly wide enough to allow it to be drilled out to fit the valve through the cap but appears too small to accommodate the sealing washer on top.

Wilko pressure barrel - fitting S30 valve to cap?

I've just taken advantage of the Wilkinson sale to buy a new barrel for a measly 16 quid. I need to fit an S30 valve to the 2" cap but a cursory inspection suggests that this may be difficult. The cap appears to have some form of pressure release in a recess that looks like it would be too small...

    Wilko Kegs

I was also looking for an answer to this question! How would you create the 'flat' side which I believe is required with the S30 valve? Cheers!
