    Late infection

Hi all. In Dec I brewed a Pilgrims Hope which, through my own stupidity (don't ask), I got infected; was like drinking pure TCP. I'd bottled that batch, incidentally. I recently did a Nelson's Revenge and put it in my PB. Tasted great until last 3rd of barrel when that familiar TCP taste crept...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

Ceejam, I'm intrigued. The St Peters is my next brew and I'm a big Thrappledouser fan. Does it come out pretty close? If so, have you worked out a Lia Fail one too? Cheers

    Festival, Pilgrims Hope Review

I've high hopes for this. Tried the Golden Stag and it was fine but didn't really impress. However, I put this on and it's fermented out to 1.011 in ten days and the sample tasted great; very bitter but with enough residual maltiness to balance it out. Have now chucked in the hops and will...

    Bottling nightmare- a question

Glad to hear it Markmark- can't see this one lasting too long, early signs are it'll be a belter!

    Bottling nightmare- a question

Cheers all. I do have a bottling wand. The problem was when I was trying to rack the beer into my bottling bucket; auto siphon just would not behave.

    Bottling nightmare- a question

Just finished off my 2nd brew (Festival Golden Stag). I'd legged my 1st in pressure barrel which went fine. Decided to bottle this lot and had major problems with my auto siphon stopping. Kept having to pump it to get it going and saw an alarming amount of bubbles getting drawn into the beer. I...

Noob- wherry late tweak (likely impossible) needed

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

My 1st brew. Had no probs and after 3weeks in FV and 3 weeks in pressure barrel is tasting good but I wish I'd tweaked it with some hops. Nothing citrus-y, just something else. At the moment it's tasting like the background to something I'd love if it had that extra angle. Delighted its turned...

Well cheers for that. I take it you're an all-grain man. As I said I'm brand new to brewing but a big beer fan and hopefully I'll be doing it all from scratch too at some (distant) point; sure I'll be leaning on everyone here for some pointers along the way. Happy brewing Si

Noob- wherry late tweak (likely impossible) needed

Just brewed 1st kit (wherry). Appears to have all gone well-no stuck fermentation, no off-flavours etc. 3 weeks FV, now 3 weeks in pressure barrel. Saving it until Xmas but drew a cheeky pint tonight and it tastes lovely. BUT a bit 1-dimensional; like drinking a malt loaf. Don't get me wrong...

    New member needing help

Hi all, been lurking since my wonderful wife bought me a starter kit (with wherry) as birthday gift; most welcome. Been checking videos and hitting Twitter ever since to obsess and worry every step of my first brew. Loving what I've seen of the community so far and hope I'm in a position to...
