I’ve got four cornies which I’ve been using for a few years with overall success.
As all were bought used they’ve required reconditioning over time and part of this has involved replacing the poppets.
With increasing universal poppets now in operation I’m finding increasing problems. I think the main issue is on the ‘out’ poppet, where the tightening of the poppet results in the spring rotating around the top of the dip tube, causing permanent damage to the spring and tearing the rubber seal.
The reason for this is the lack of ‘tripod’ clips that come with the new poppet assembly (and that the outgoing one from the replaced poppet tends not to fit).
Can you buy replacement tripods?
There are thousands of poppets on eBay and Amazon, but not one with the tripod.
Anyone had any joy obtaining these?
