Hi guys, I want to do a winter beer kit, could I steep mulled spices in secondary or should I steep before putting in fermenter or both?

Another option would be adding it as you would dry hops,
my only concern would be whether or it would introduce contaminants.

I guess you could make a tincture by soaking the mulled wine spices in vodka and then adding the tincture to the beer during secondary fermentation.

I suppose you could put it in cup of hot water for 10mins then add in secondary

Would it work in a stout kit or stick to winter ale

It might do although maybe the spices will come through more in an Ale rather thans Stout as the roast barley is very prominent. I cant say i have ever tried much in a Stout apart from Vanilla and Liquorice and often they are barely noticable.

I'm planning on doing this also as I have some "teabags" left over from last year when I tried doing mulled wine/cider.

Have kegged a WOODFORDES WHERRY, boiled priming sugar with a mulled wine teabag in it then poured the lot in the keg, fingers crossed it turns out ok
