    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Let's hope so, this started fermenting after only a few hours and is still bubbling away, I will bottle it in two weeks time with half a teaspoon of sugar per 500ml bottle, I don't like to much fizz in my beer so hopefully this should be about right:thumb:

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

I have just done this kit with 1 KG of light spray malt and did a hop tea with Saaz hops, brewed slightly short at around 21 litres, hydrometer reading came out at 1044 so should be a bit stronger and have a bit more flavour, will look forward to this in a couple of months time.

    King Keg bottom tap pressure

Are you sure it is air in the tap? I do get a build up of co2 in the tap which is released by tipping the barrel forwards, I think this is co2 coming out of the beer as the pressure goes down

    King Keg worth it?

I thought I would update this thread. I replaced the tap as it would not stop dripping no matter how hard it was turned off (I don't like barrel taps anyway)put a new seal in the cap and replaced the co2 valve. I tested it first by injecting it with co2 and checked for leaks, there was a leak...

    Bleach smell

Well that seems to have done the trick, I left it with the hot water in for about 30 min's and put a crushed campden tablet in as well, job done thanks.:-D

    Bleach smell

I have cleaned an old FV with milton left to soak overnight and rinsed 3 or 4 times, it has been left to dry out but now it seems to have a bleach smell to it, will it be OK to use? or is there anyway to get rid of the smell, I don't want to ruin a batch of beer.

    King Keg worth it?

Well it looks like the tap and float assembly are OK so I will replace the cap O ring and the co2 valve and give it a go with a cheap wilco kit and see if it hold's the pressure. I have heard the floats cause problems sometimes and do not work,I understand the idea of the float system but if...

    King Keg worth it?

I have been given a King Keg which needs a bit of work on it to make it usable, it needs a new tap and float assembly, a new O ring for the cap and a replacement CO2 valve as the one it had has no pin in it for the gas bulbs, once I have replaced all these things I will have spent over £25, I...

Lots of head on my Wherry

There maybe a build up of gas collecting in the tap, if you carefully tip the barrel forward before opening the tap it releases it.
