Something a bit different, which do you reckon?

Well after just 12 days under airlock the tropical combo has finished itself off and even done a pretty good job of clearing itself up naturally. :) Have just racked, degassed and stabilised. Will leave it a while longer to see what else drops out of its own accord, the use finings if necessary...

    Brewafternoon: Raspberry WOW

Have just given this a go, only a 1 gal tester for now. Thanks for the recipe, will see how it turns out. :) Also picked up a bottle each of the strawberry and cherry whilst I was in Lidl, so will set something similar off using those in the next couple of weeks.

Something a bit different, which do you reckon?

Well, the tropical combo is off. :) Went with 2 cartons of the juice, 500g dextrose and the small bottle of white grape concentrate. 1tsp citric, 4 bag tea, 1 tsp pectolase, 1tsp nutrient and the old faithful Young's yeast. If this one turns out, I'll use honey in place of the day dextrose...

Something a bit different, which do you reckon?

The carrot/peach is 72g of sugar per 750ml bottle, and the pineapple/coconut is 119g per 1l carton. I'm thinking I may use the apple in the carrot, and the grape in the pineapple...Off to do a bit of sanitising so that I can play with measurements and see what works :)

Something a bit different, which do you reckon?

After setting my experimental red going yesterday (the one with beetroot, blueberry and rgjc) I thought I needed something to fill another DJ. Local discounter had cases of "Carrot and Peach", along with cartons of "Pineapple and Coconut". So naturally I grabbed some of both, haha. Don't...

Will it be red? Who knows...Who cares! It was fun :)

When I said cobbling together a blow off tube, I really meant it lol. Tap jammed into the bung in the dj, into a hastily punched hole in a 5l water bottle lid as it's all I've got to hand. And the whole dj stood in a bucket just in case it forces the tap loose. I actually hate beetroot, so...

Will it be red? Who knows...Who cares! It was fun :)

Cobbling one together as I type, haha. I've had enough mopping up this week, and that was just a bog standard Young's Chardonnay kit, which had more than enough headroom but still decided to make a break for freedom. ;) Next time I do one of those, I'll start at half full and top up a couple...

Will it be red? Who knows...Who cares! It was fun :)

Certainly will keep you posted. :) As you say, it's the flavour which will be interesting! I suspect rough as anything when young, but hopefully will mellow into something rich and full of body by Christmas 2018 haha. It's off to a flyer, been in the dj less than an hour and already loads of...

Will it be red? Who knows...Who cares! It was fun :)

Something a bit red and a bit different. :) 1l beetroot (90%, 10% apple), 1l blueberry (8%, 5% apple, 2% elderberry), 220g RJC. 500g dextrose, 4 teabags stewed, 1tsp pectolase, 1tsb nutrient and 1tsb Young's express wine yeast. No idea what to expect, but wanted to have a play, haha! Will...

    Hello from St Helens!

Thanks for the lovely warm welcome folks. :) Nice to see a couple of people local too! I didn't even realise we had a local shop judge6, and literally 5 mins from me too. Will be sure to pop in and say hello to them, and no doubt walk out several £££ lighter haha.

    Hello from St Helens!

Hi all, My name's Marc, I'm perilously close to turning 30 :( and currently call St Helens in Merseyside home. After a 5 year hiatus, I got my first brew on last night! :D Nothing special, it's just one of the cheapy kits from the Tesco sale, but it's a start and a way back in...
